The drivers that go with the copier should do scanning. Go to the manufactuers' website, look up the model, and then download drivers for whatever operating system you are using. Generally they'll come with some scanning applications of varying quality.

GIMP is a free image editing program, not unlike Photoshop, and it can read in images from your scanner if you already have the drivers installed.

Good idea, except...I have downloaded and installed the drivers, it was the first thing I did since this particular piece of technology and I have a bit of a history. When my mother first got it, she and I had a very long go around with the devise. It took a while to just get it set up on her computer since the driver CD didn't have a version compatible with my mothers computer (CD-XP, the computer-Windows 7)...and then we found out that the Blue Tooth antenna thingy isn't any good so the first thing I did when I went to install it on my computer was to plug in a USB cable to the devise and to my laptop. I knew I would have to download the drivers from the manufacturers website to get up to date drivers. Sadly, the drivers didn't come with any sort of useful scanning software, just some photo-editing software of the "create your own photo album" and "remove red eye" sort. What makes it even funnier is the first time we tried scanning on my mother's computer, it was a breeze, since my mother had Acrobat (bought with my student discount when I was in school) and I knew how to scan things from a set of Acrobat lessons from my work's online learning system.

Lack of support for Windows version is a pin. I have a great big graphics tablet and an 11x17 scanner that are sitting in the closet since they stopped supporting them after XP. :/
