I'm making this journal post offline as the Internet is broken again. However, I did manage to get online this morning and order a new laptop, and commission a lot of art last night. I love pay days!
It has definitely been an interesting day today. The morning was punctuated by a car bomb outside the camp. I've gotten quite blasé about security and that was a wake up call for me. There's no serious danger, but it has made me a lot more cautious.
The afternoon brightened up morale wise when the other sub-unit gave me a filter coffee machine, which promptly fused all the electrics in my lab. It turns out that it had a serious electrical fault. I've fixed that now and my lab is filled with the delicious smell of freshly made coffee <3
On the weekend I finally received official notification of my promotion at work. I'm now a senior engineer, which means more money, but also a lot more responsibility. I'm hoping it will also mean less overtime and more time with my friends and family. ^.^

I fixed the coffee maker. It turned out to be a silly fault. American coffee filters look like giant muffin cases!
