Unfortunately that wont happen. I couldnt believe either when I was reading it in the news this morning. But its not all gone. At least as long as there are people who believe in freedom, cultural friendship and in strength through standing together. People like us (I guess most of the fandom). The british result was close. 2/3 of the older british people voted for the exit. Concerning the young people it was the other way around. The old elite will distinguish and hope will arise for those who own tomorrow. Those are the people who believe and have to believe. Im from germany and I know that due to our demographical distribution we'll need people from abroad who will work and live here. Im absolutely sure that the situation in other countries is either similiar or complimental. If we will fight for our european values we will still prove them wrong and we will show them that we are stronger together. We need each other and even the british people will notice that. They received retour on the financial markets, they will receive retour when Scotland and Northern Ireland will vote once again and this time for going all together. The conservatives will only win if we let them.

Nothing much will change in the long run. I've heard some concerning things like the EU wanting to setup it's own army and the fact that the average European citizen has literally no say in the policies being passed in the EU.

"the EU" is not a political monolith any more than "the UK" is. SOME European politicians have a long term ambition for an EU army. but the UK has a VETO. it would have to be a UNANIMOUS decision and that was never going to happen at any point in the near future. it wasn't just the UK that was going to veto it. of course we can't veto anything now that we're going to leave.

also don't tell me about the average citizen having no say in policies. do you even know what the European Council is? it's literally the heads of state of every EU country. not separate politicians, but the political leaders WE vote for in our OWN political systems. and then there is the European Parliament which we vote for MEPs in directly. so when decisions have to go through BOTH the Council and the Parliament please tell me how we don't have any say? in fact policies only get through the European bodies if there is a LOT of consensus.

And tbh, i really don't care what difference is. I'm more concerned about what an utter joke the US political system since i live here and that it is actively fucking me over. There literally no correlation in the policies that American people want and the policies passed by congress, so it wouldn't surprise me that the average EU citizen has just as little say in EU policies.

It's such an british mentality to require a camping trip to realise that neighbours are not to be feared and are't out to get their jobs.

I didn't fear them before and I haven't since. The point is that I've travelled and recognised that the stuff we get fed at home is fear mongering BS. I'm still bitter that a lot of people seemed to make a decision based on misinformation, and didn't bother to find out before committing the country to a path that, in the long term, could be very damaging for us.

Also, with respect to "such a British mentality", I hope you've known me long enough to know that I'm not like most Brits.
