I work for the government and I was there for the last near shut down and it was enough of an unholy mess. I deal with time sheets and time keeping and it was a Friday (bad enough on its own) with people working over time and earning credit hours (work now, take paid leave later hours), with the impending shut down furlough, it was giving the time keeping system shit fits and everyone was calling me to brute force it into working. A real shut down must have been a truly unholy mess. It is the only thing that makes me happy I wasn't at work (being on furlough myself is slowly driving me batty).
