I found someone stealing/selling my art over at Deviantart

■■■■■ So, this is kind of a new thing to me
My art has never been sold by another person before, which this person is doing
The funny thing is, they actually took my name too, and is using the deviantart name MisoTheFox

And it was easy for him to get away with it too, since I don't have an actual DA account, I just have one thats like 8 years old that I use just to favorite some things now and then
I tried reporting all their submissions with proof that they did not draw it, but DA staff has never done anything about that in the past.
I just don't want people to get ripped off by buying something that isn't theirs, especially since this person is selling my stuff as adoptables. Including 1 commission for
and 1 commission for 
and 2 other submissions which are my OCs, Zak and Kuru
I'm not sure what to think of this
Usually thieves at least go under a different name.... but not this guy...... seems he wants all the recognition he can get

And then some poor soul comes along and buys their "adoptable" and is now burdened with actually "owning" that stolen character.
Then when confronted about it what are they to do?
I feel bad, but also very angry.
make me feel horrible because even if I bought
most of them, I still love them as my own.
I noticed the person who bought their "adoptables" is no longer at DA, for some reason.
Otherwise I would have confronted them about the thievery....
I'm just disappointed that I didn't find them sooner.
It's annoying and angering yes. Sigh....
I try and keep an eye out but I don't know many people so seeing other's OCs is a very rare occurrence for me :/

In any case. My art's been stolen in the past, just never sold before; apparently now I'm decent enough to actually have some of my stuff sold.
What really perplexes me though is why he decided to have the same name.....
It's like they're not even trying xD
But in any case, at least it hasn't been going on too long, and they didn't get ballsy enough to submit everything from my gallery xD

Although it fucking amazes me he used the exact same name for the DA. Like hes not even trying to hide himself a little.
Maybe he was hoping some people from here would recognize him and start following him there?
No idea what his reasoning behind that is.....
Those are also some terrible prices; 800 points is only $10, probably to get buyers quickly, and allow it to move on to ripping off another artist. The account can be closed easily enough, but I wonder if the website will or can make any attempt to keep the person from doing this again or subtract the transacted "points" from that person; to my knowledge they have no actual cash value. Whoever it is probably bought some stupid fickle on-site meaninglessness for its main account. Can that be tracked after two months?
In any case I have every doubt that the staff will actually do something about this. As mentioned before they previously haven't, and it's just a mess over there...
I just don't want this to continue in fear that other people may buy "their" things and grow attached to certain characters. I certainly don't want to see my OCs around belong to other people, I can't imagine what my commissioners would think >.<
Thanks for explaining it to me though, I think I got the idea now. This idea is around on many sites, and even games.
Perhaps they took the points and sent it to their main account somehow. I'm sure they have one somewhere; why else would they ask for points anyway?
Hopefully something happens from this.
Art/Character theft is the worst. I've spent hours refining half my characters and if I found someone else was using any artwork of them as their own character, I'd flip shit at them, or the person who sold them the "adoptable"
I wouldn't be so angry if they weren't commissions/my OCs but LUCKY FOR ME that's all I draw.
I've put countless hours into my OCs and it's just not fun one dog gone diddly bit.
But yeah, it's like.. Characters are sort of an outpouring of yourself. I couldn't bear to even sell any of my characters off as adoptables legit, never mind having them stole and then sold.
It's just sneaky and dirty and desperate.
I always show up at these sorts of situations too late.
Though, perhaps being called out stopped him from future occurrences.
We'll never know I guess.

It's true that the staff generally don't do anything about this sort of stuff (from what I can see anyway) but it's hard to pinpoint the reasoning behind their lack of enforcement...

But, just so I can throw my hat in the ring opinion-wise; what they're doing is insanely unfair to you and to the two people. I mean, frankly, it's stealing. And for that matter, why do people think they can get away with stuff like this? Like- you were never going to catch on? Pfft.
I do hope this issue is resolved soon enough for you, and hopefully DA will take some positive course of action!
As long as we get the person to stop. That's all I care about at this point.

As mentioned a bunch of times before I don't expect anything to be done from the DA staff, but hopefully with all the comments people have been giving him, he'll be pressured to stop XD

Besides, I don't think it's big enough of a deal to worry about, yet. I'm not the person that people would steal a whole gallery from, and big ugly watermarks just deter from the picture.
At least my signature is on them; but even then, when the person steals even my name? Man...... Can't get around that......
Certainly the first time I've seen any of your stuff not here.
Frankly I'd just register your name in all possible places if I were you, just to add that level. Then do a small watermark that can't be cropped or easily photoshopped out, leading to a main profile (here, I assume).
Some people are incredibly desperate for attention. I don't understand how someone is getting attention even using another's name, because that credit is going to miso whoever rather than schmuck jones.
But if you think about buying adoptables from DA in the future, maybe poke around a little bit on their account first, to see if they have any other uploads. Often times this is a common occurrence where the person has only a few uploads and then abandons the account shortly after.
If it doesn't look legit, it probably isn't xD

just a thought too. Wouldn't this also count for Identity theft as well? I'm rather vauge on that matter, but perhaps it may be worth looking into.
Unfortunately I do not have a DA account, or report spammage would happen, along with excessive messages, letters etc. to staff and admin about this issue. My deepest condolences Miso.

The guy who bought me seems to have disabled his account though.
They are looking for the person who bought him, so hang in tight there Fawks x.x I told the person that you are pretty well-known here, and will probably be recognized down the line hopefully.

It's been stolen in the past, years ago back when I played Neopets.
sigh... People keep saying think of it as a compliment
But I can't stop thinking how the "buyers" must feel after realizing they bought stolen characters

AND NO I GOT BANNED BECAUSE THE STAFF OF THAT SITE SUCKS.
I played Neopets once... Had a Shoyru, tried to buy food from the store but it always sold out seconds after it was restocked... Only way to feed him was spend all my money and get free soup from the kitchen. Really great game, hope he's enjoying that soup to this day.
and anyone who knows you from here should recognize the art on that DA site as commissioned art, so selling it as an adoptable is a big derp wtf moment.
there is this little guide, but really.. some people really get it easy. Also, it might take some time for them to take action, specially since the person bought a premium account.
Just keep reporting until they do something about it...
