since it's my childhood and all it's hard to let go even though TNT froze me mercilessly

I used to go on neopets 24/7 as a kid; i had a lot of accounts (although I only used one XD)
I stopped going on it and went on GaiaOnline instead when I was going into middle school

Yeah Subeta beat out Neopets for me hands-down when I hit high school, but i played NP from age 10.

Never got frozen, so alll my old shit is still there.

Neopets is my earliest internet memories
It's because of Neopets that I began using the internet in the first place
and that's also where I met my two best friends that I've been friends with for over 12 years now
so it's got a warm place in my heart~ Haha

I thought I would never get frozen. It turns out it was a fluke, as thousands of other users were also frozen for the same exact reason I was, at the same time. But I never got my account back; and neither did they... TNT ended up discontinuing the thing we were all frozen for due to "loss of users" apparently. Way to go, TNT.
Morons.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure if I just live in a bubble now I won't get frozen again. >:T
Thing is, it took me like 8 years to get to where I was. I've never had more than 1M np until the week I got frozen. I was so stoked that I finally saved up enough... and was about to paint my krawk brown...when bam

Totally with you on Neopets being the first foray into the internet, and YEAH MET ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS THERE GOOD TIMES

i never even made it to a million, i felt super good about myself for hitting 500k and that was plenty for me at the time

the conversion was the final straw, i hated the new look to the pets and I scooted over full-time (i don't really play either game now, I'm a resident of SecondLife)

Ugh yeah, from old neo to "new" neo? That's when I quit too >: I gave it a week to get used to but..I just couldn't do it...
Then, a couple years later, I figured I'd give it a try. so I returned, and it turns out it wasn't all that bad. But the people have changed, because by then everything was about the NC mall and trading pets depending on how "valuable" they were. Like if they had shorter names, or a really rare color sceme, that kind of thing...
But all that set aside, it was easy to get used to. I got to stay there for about 3 or four ...? months before the whole banning thing happened. And they didn't just ban one account, no; they banned all accounts associated with my computer. Even ones not on the same email. e_e
So, yeah. It's been two years since that incident. So now I have to start from complete scratch.... Why do I care to try though?
Well, Neo gave me a lot of inspiration for characters. Some of my current characters are actually from Neo; Cove, Lenny, Zurkal, Mo, Kaade, Fearen, Cynge, Cahl, Rana, Zak, and Kuru.... so yeah, a good number of them...
I'd say it's worth giving it a shot, if only for that inspiration again. xD
But even then, when I returned for the 3-4 months, I had pets from old accounts to trade away for new pets.
Now, I have nothing. So it's all back to square one.

Just saw this. As someone with rather strong ties to Neopets (I'd rather not go into detail on a comment, for fear of being identified), I ask myself the same question all the time. There really isn't a heck of a lot unless you like generic flash games, virtual economies, or playing dress up with your pets (harder without real money... nc mall is a blessing and a curse). When there's plots, working with friends or the rest of the community to figure stuff out is fun, but that's a rarity.

To be honest, when folks ask me why I keep playing, I have no good answer. Hopefully you find something mildly amusing about it. I can NF you if you'd like, pretty neutral on the subject of Neofriends. Just remember not to mention external sites through Neomail - it's a good way to get frozen :<
