Kind of hard to think of the english equivalent that's taken off other than "s/he" which is annoying and doesn't really work in a spoken context :P or ya know, "they" All other ones iv'e heard just don't really sound right..

I'm a fan of "they" myself, even if it's a little awkward initially. People seem to gravitate to "they" when gender isn't known in a lot of circumstances as in "I read an article by them, they made some interesting points" so it seems applicable .
:3 People generally refer to me as either him or her, I don't mind ^_^ so I guess it doesnt really matter for me at the end of the day~
