Hey Fairlyn, I really appreciate that you say you like my art, it's hard for a lot of artists to really know where in quality their stuff is and I'm always a little self-doubting about it so I can't ever be sure where I am on the scale of things. :} All i know is that I've worked forever on it.

I need to get myself a writer or something to help me get the story ironed out probably. I'd really love to find a good reliable writer I can go to after I figure out the whole writing-comission situation. Most of the girls so far are very fluid concepts, since I need to make sure the new sisters are up to their owner's standards as well as my own so they can enjoy them and I can enjoy drawing them.

So far the quick and fast of it is, Reska and her sisters live in their own world, fantasy-like. No other creature is like them (though humans and other creatures inhabit it) and none of them know where they came from (yet.) Each sister has certain natural phenomena associated with herself. Reska causes storms, though other girls will control the wind, the tide, there's a sister of the suns and one of the moons and gravity. It's things like that, meant to create chaos or balance- each one has a different personality, different means of control. For instance, one sister might be fairly in control of her role, but others might be incredibly burdened by it. Some girls are jealous or fearful of other sisters, because of their effects on their own entity. Some live as leaders and some are loners. That's a big gist of it I suppose. :}

it depends what you'r ewanting to get out of art. If you want to have fun and draw, draw freebees under the one condition that you absolutely want to do it. That said, if your goal is to make money, definitely give it a break.

Also. I'd consider that very quick. My sketch commissions take me a day at least. And coloured ones, far longer than I'd like to admit to!

Yes, you do awesome work too, so I'm flattered you think that's fast. I used to be very self-conscious about the amount of time it would take me to finish some pieces. A full picture taking me like 40 hours of work- over a week, I started to think, why can't I get these done as fast as other artists even though I'm not even close to their skill level? Why can't I just pop one out in a day?

I really do enjoy just drawing for fun, but I also know I probably shouldn't offer to do free art if there are people trying to make a living and an income off art too- who knows, I could take a meal off someones' table just because I was bored I guess. I don't know if I'd ever really be good enough to do something like that, but I'm sure there are ways I could do art that isn't just like, a journal where people just throw me ideas and I satisfy them I guess. I don't know.

You shouldn't be ashamed of that! Good art takes time. I've spent 80+ hours on a picture on a few occasions, and you learn from things like that. I think there's a lot to be said for artists who are unable to spend more than say 5 hours on a given picture too of which I know quite a few! That said, one thing I've found is I have a bad habit of getting stuck in the unimportant details in a picture. Being a macro artist I often have to draw cities and the like, and I end up wasting days drawing windows in buildings for example. Aaaand that's no good as I'm not learning anything from it. It's a just a long time consuming grind, and that's something i need to avoid. I think there's an art to spending a long time on the RIGHT things in a picture, which I suspect for an artist as good as yourself, is something you've got down a lot better than I do.

Do your own thing! You shouldn't worry about taking work from another artist by offering freebees. I think people who are willing to pay for art, will always be willing to pay for art to get art from the artists they want. I don't think someone's likely to go, I'll get art from x or Tannonclaw, they're more likely to go, I'll get art from both. I think at the end of the day, you should just have fun, whatever that entails!

I think it's probably a combination of the two, sadly but truly. But I'm glad you're taking the time do things for yourself too. If you ever need any help, don't hesitate to ask.
