I've made some many mental changes to one of my stories but the only thing I haven't decided on is the species of the two furry characters that will be involved in it.

I'm trying not to choose a 'mainstream' fur, like foxes, wolves, rabbits/hares, dragons. I'm trying to choose a species that's not so much in the spotlight. The two characters at the start was a fox and a rabbit, then I changed the fox into a cat, then the cat to a bird and the rabbit to a lizard, then a chameleon, then a skink. I just can't decide.

And I'm trying to be careful of what species I picked. For example, somewhere along the line the human character is going to get so sick that she can't walk and one of the furry characters carries her to safety on his back and we don't want him to be a porcupine or a hedgehog (except for Sonic, but this isn't a fan-fiction!)

Anyone wanna help me out? Just throw a few species at me that you don't see that often in art or writing. Maybe I could work with something...
