So having a child has made me see how many other furry community folks have children. And of course the wider population of animal/cute kid-loving parents.
So I am wondering if there is an artistic (aka can't be mass produced in China for cheaper than I can make it for) furry/animal themed product for babies/young kids that you have been looking for/have seen that you really like.
The impetus behind this is that on a whim of cuteness I recently made a frilly diaper cover for my daughter (learning several new skills in the meantime) and it was a nice change from the normal. I followed a real store bought pattern and everything! XD
I'm not opposed to work with materials other than faux fur and (while I would love to do that) I am also interested in the idea of widening my skill base. I don't want to just make basic clothing or anything else that can be bought at Wal-Mart though. I'm not opposed to the idea of redesigning and making tiny fursuits but I'm not sure there is really a market for that they way there is for adult sized fursuits.
So yeah! Throw some train of thought my way and maybe we can come up with something unique and cool! My daughter is barely 4 months so my ideas right now all involve diapers ROFL

But yes, it would be quite adorable.
Or little hats with ears and such, can't let babies get cold c:
Little bitty mittens with paw pad grippies (This sounds adorable to me for some reason. Aaa)
All probably things already out there, but adorable sounding, nonetheless uwu;;
Oh gosh, I looked them up on google images to see what would come up

Probs for feet, but still u wu ~~
I will point out though that I do believe there may be additional certification/steps you might need to pursue in order to sell things intended specifically for children. I think you may be required to have tags on certain wearable items stating that they're fire resistant or lead-free or they're made of this material, yadda yadda. This is why I have been steering clear of labeling any of my Etsy stuff as being "for kids" - even though people buy it for their kids to wear, if I were to market it specifically for children there would be even more hoops I would have to jump through. No thanks! :P
Cuz she was raised by animals?
don't know how well they'd tolerate it
The ooooone caution I have is, in addition to the mention above of marketing specifically to children and the extra hoops you'd have to jump through, is cost. I honestly think the main reason most folks don't go for super realistic, detailed, furry costume items for babies is the cost to speed with which they will outgrow it ratio.
For example, a fursuit for an adult, that person knows they should, barring weight gain, get quite a few years of use out of the item. A suit or kigurumi for a toddler or baby....notsomuch. Our two year old is petite, and still occasionally can fit into 18month items depending on the maker (baby sizes vary a loooooot from one manufacturer to another) but for the most part, within 6 months the baby has outgrown clothing items. So spending a hundred dollars and up on something your wee one will get 6 months or less use out of might be a harder sell.
Lil paw gloves are cute. Winter is coming.
Also into consideration you would also appeal to the Cub Furs with good merchandise. We love wooden blocks so another idea could be the craft of a set of 6 wooden blocks and maybe one being special to character. Besides blankets, jamies and towels that would be an excellent idea there are still so many things out there. Do you remember those mobiles that play a melody or maybe a plush that plays a soft melody.
What about school days and picnics? Back backs are a excellent thing to have/
<3kable , If you ever want to chat feel free to. I love helping.
hats are always good and so are booties :3
and a little minky/seal fur fursuit would be the best halloween costume ever :D
a custom 'sona/character pram bag would be super cool too
Also hooded blankets with ears.
