New jams
People I know make music! This is a strange and novel thing.
Please listen to their strange and novel musics here:
pools musics: http://qualiaa.bandcamp.com/album/activity
thatoneguy297 musics: http://neilbones.bandcamp.com/album/ghost
Everyone else I know should clearly be making music like these cool kids.
In the world of music made by people who I do not know (unless they secretly pretend to be animal people here and I am simply not aware), here are a few tracks in no particular order that I have been jamming to recently. They're not especially new or unknown, but some may be new or unknown to some of you <3
Let me know what y'all are listening on, too! I'm always eager for new tips :09
Radiohead - Reckoner
Washed Out - Great Escape
Shugo Tokumaru - Rum Hee
Jai Paul - Jasmine
(Str8 Outta Mumbai off this same album-thing is a total booty jam, but it's not on youtube U_U)
Bibio - You
Junip - Line Of Fire
Telefon Tel Aviv - Fahrenheit Fair Enough
A Silver Mt. Zion - Could've Moved Mountains

One of my all-time favorites although the video is no longer online is this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZj1Zy5ukBg
A lot of new stuff seems less melody-driven, but usually I like more electronic stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQGHvVWWhbY (one of their slower ones)
or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neAlDndmIqc
Sometimes I get on an Ozric Tentacles kick -- you can look them up on Youtube.
Fredrik Miller is on FA (FredrikMiller) and does stuff like this:

Totally was not expecting midgets.
Have you checked out Caribou's music? Or what did you think of newest Boards of Canada?
If you are willing to go further down this particular musical rabbit hole there are a few more artists that you might enjoy:
The Books (Well cultivated aleatoric music)
Zammuto (Essentially The Books 2)
Black Moth Super Rainbow (This is far more Psychedelic)
The Avalanches (Plunderbeat, it is wonderful)
And, completely on the other side of the spectrum, TuneYards:

That girl Merril Garbus has one hell of a powerful voice.
I assume you're also familiar with The Album Leaf?
I was not familiar with The Album Leaf. How was I not familiar with these guys? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?
For cereal though, this is some seriously chill/peaceful music. Thanks for the suggestion Mui.

It knows more about the music I love than I do. You could probably find some interesting stuff in there, like how I am obsessed with unusual, Scandinavian Female Vocalists.

So weird, yet so good. And as a Bonus, she appears to be wearing a Yeti pelt.
And that tracks' great! It's like Flume, featuring Kate Bush.
You're broing out with Kate Bush, aren't you U_U
Also: my Skype ID is on my profile page. Feel free to hit me up there if you want to continue talking about music!
I'm not on Skype, unfortunately, but if you do come across a new jam and you happen to think of it, totally drop me a note/shout!
I forgot to mention James Blake!!!!

Powerful voice, Powerful post-dubstep italics.
Glad you enjoyed!
also, Shugo and Bibio are two of my favorite artists.
Also pretty much anything by Uppermost

Also I'm kind of embarrassed that it took me so long to realise the vocalist for Junip was Jose Gonzales, wehh uwu
Oh well, music!
If only they made them in giraffe size :0/a Ah, well. Hope you guys are keeping warm and toasty!
At this very moment, I'm listening to this: Peace-1998. They just rolled through here last week with Two Door Cinema Club and St. Lucia, but I wasn't able to go.
Bunch of suggestions
These guys are one of my favourites: Snowmine. Anxiously waiting for their new album, due out in February.
Bombay Bicycle Club is always good. New Album out in February, too.
I often put Great Bloomers' album Distant Fires on rotation.
Future Screens for some 80s Dreampop goodness.
Carousel for even more 80s Dreampop goodness.
Absofacto usually finds his way into my trucks speakers, along with his other recently-released project, Hollow & Akimbo.
Half Moon Run are another favourite and are phenomenal live; saw them last month and they were great.
A few local favourites
Brasstronaut. Their latest album, Mean Sun, is quite good.
Facts
Heard in the Mountains. Played a show with them a few weeks ago; cool guys, good live show.
If we had any recordings of our new stuff, I'd shamelessly plug that haha.
Recent favs of mine...
For psychedelic vibe, Tame Impala: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i7qOczawPE
New Wave lives on in Chapel Club (silly video, but good sound): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iabOBjgHCRI
New Agey stuff, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVVvWS1Cszw
All the rest was really great though, been looking for new Japanese musicians and Shugo really hit the spot.
Jai Paul and Washed Out were always ones I adored, Radiohead and Bibio too. @v@
I've always wanted to recommend music to you since I saw ages ago you posted you were looking for some stuff. My tastes definitely fall in that range and I'm always searching for good lo-fi and dreamy music.
