Or for those that don't get what that means. I am leaving Fur Affinity, directly in association with the new change in TOS rules.
I'm going to try to keep my journal brief, if only because I don't believe many are going to view it, but probably won't be able to.
It seems FA took the legal route. Since it's not against the law, there's no reason to ban cub porn. That's fine. If the intregity of this website is only concerned with its legal status, then by all rights, it should only base its decisions on what is and isn't legal. Which is hilarious because it keeps live images of adult body art, etc from being posted... interesting dicotomy. Or is that a quiet revision that's being made as well?
Furthermore... the vote favored a ban, yet, they didn't ban it. I wish those that run this site would not put the community through a "voting" fiasco just so they could make the decision on their own. I never believed this place was a democracy... I openly laughed at their characterization of it as such, but it was stupid to try to promote a democratic decision that was anything but.
Moving on from the FA entity decision to the core of the problem.
As a member of this community I've done my best to put up with the crazy shit. Silly and disgusting fetishes between consenting adults is fine. That's real freedom, to use the argument of an artist here. I draw a very thick line at cub porn. I've said it a number of times in other journals and in the forums... Whatever the Supreme Court said that defines child pornography is fine for lawyers, but the Supreme Court doesn't define morality. Afterall, the Supreme Court once said a black person was not protected by human rights because they were property, not human. It has recently said that it's okay to have sexual communication with a child as long as you don't send a picture. I don't look to a panel of aging people in black robes to define morality for me. That's our job as a society. Furthermore, it is our job as members of this subculture to define the boundaries.
As I said before, I've put up with the truly strange in this community, but there are two things I won't... real beastiality and cub porn. I say real beastiality because quite frankly, when I say I dig bunny girls... I'm talking about tits and ass my friends. The ears and tails are just pretty accents, but tits and ass are what I look at and from what I've seen... those parts tend to remain QUITE human in nature.
But folks... Dress it up as a kitten all you want... it's still a kid. Maybe I'm just too clever and the illusion of cub porn fails to work on me... Or maybe I'm a gnome and I have bonuses against enchantments... Who knows? The justifications for allowing it to exist are silly.

I don't know about any of you... but when I look at porn for my own personal recreational usage.. It's a substitute for what I truly want. Keep that in mind for the folks that get off to beastiality and cub porn and try to act like they never would do it themselves. If the shame isn't great enough to stop one from jerking it to still images on a computer screen, it doesn't take much further silencing of the inner voices to remove the inhibitions on engaging it in real life should an opportunity arise.

No, you wouldn't. Freedom isn't just the absence of restriction. It's also the practice of restraint. Not allowing cub porn on this site wouldn't be stifling freedom. It'd be exercising restraint on a community level. No one can stop someone from enjoying cub porn or drawing it, but we can say as a whole that we will not be enablers or sponsors to the behavior either.

On a last note. There are those of you that are staying behind that don't support cub porn.. That's your decision, not mine, to make. I have no ill will towards any of you. You have your reasons, but you must respect mine.
So, I'll tired of all this angst and I want to get back to writing, oddly enough what I'm doing right now...

I dont want that my watchlist is shrinking down to a handful of people. I even dont know where you will go next. There is no other place. DA wont let you post your stuff, belive me, and VCL isnt a option.
I dont think anything will change, I dont belive this site will be flooded by cub porn. If you post here, or somewhere else, it dosent matter, you will bne not sure that the site you post next isnt changing thier TOS also.
As they say, it's the principle of the matter. I don't think this place is going to be flooded with cub porn. I understand they're going to apply filters. This does not change the fact that they are in essence saying it is okay. I don't think it's okay. If I were a professional artist, there would be even more incentive to leave, being that getting a job in that small field is part skill and part who you know and what your reputation is. Ebonyleopard even cited practical reasons for leaving, including that his new publishers don't approve of his work being on a site that allows cub porn.
2. The vote in "favor" of banning was not only biased (beside the point), it won by A SINGLE VOTE. I know at least one person who says she would change her vote if she was able to in favor of not banning it. What's that do for this argument knowing that such a slim majority favor not banning? Point is moot
3. The Supreme Court isn't the ultimate authority on morality. I can agree with you there. Anyone who claims to be an authority has to convince pretty much EVERYONE without disagreement or else they're no concrete authority on such a thing at all, however, and I think you're very mistaken if you think everyone agrees with where you stand on the art thing. I sense that most people's issue of morality on this kind of art is based on irrational, generalized fear. This is even less of an authority as individual layman's logic, let alone civilized society. You think the supreme court will look back on their decision to decide that the legislative branch is NOT the authority on what's acceptable drawn art or not and say "we were wrong"? I doubt it. I personally think Supreme Court authority > Legislative authority. I made this parallel on authority regarding the merits of art before: Constantine declared graven imagery (sculptures) a blasphemous art and most of it was destroyed, and we look back on this from our own closed-minded society's values and say "why would he do such a thing?" Although back then it probably made perfect sense to eliminate all the icons of false gods from existence, not just public display.
4. You see what you want to see in art, as we all do. Look at "cub porn" and see a kid? Ouch. Sucks to be you, I wouldn't want to be so easily offended myself but I understand that even if your feeling offended may not be entirely rational, doesn't change the fact such things offend you. I hope you don't see yourself as "the only non-deluded person in a sea of insanity" because the principle of ockham's razor would imply that you may very well be the deluded one. Apologies if that sounds offensive and condescending, too, but leaving over such an inconsequential matter is rather a bit on the wild side.
I hope you don't see all my counterpoints as disrespectful to you, but I want to give you points to think critically about. And, whether or not your principles are making you feel conflicted about leaving, I'd want you to make extra sure on a personal level that you can justify it to your mind, and not just your heart. 2. A democracy implies that majority rule, therefore one vote is just enough to make it policy. As I said, I never believed this site was any kind of a democracy. Give me a break. I considered the vote a cheap ploy by the admins, particularly since they made the decision on their own anyway. So it was a waste of time and riled everyone up.
3. In the United States, the Judicial = Legislative = Executive. It's called checks and balances. If you honestly believe that the Judicial Branch, the supreme court for instance, is greater authority than the legislative, you are gravely mistaken, but are keenly aware of the shift in power since the passing of Judicial Review... But that's another topic that has entire books arguing about it. Your spider sense is wrong. I don't fear cub porn, I simply believe it is wrong. Do your best to convince me it is perfectly acceptable without going off topic as you just did.
4. No, I'm simply making a stand. If the core belief in this community is "anything goes", then I'm simply not a part of it. I don't believe "anything goes". I believe in restraint. We see what we want in art. Define cub porn. Please, by all means define it without it having to do with the fact that the characters are underaged, in essence children. Call them cubs, kits, kittens, puppies, whatever the fuck you like... It's the same damn thing.
Try to convince me why it's okay. Go for it. I've yet to be confronted with any argument that conflicts with my own.
I think critically. There's never a moment I don't. That is exactly why I've made the decision that I've made. You obviously didn't read the beginning. I've put up with a lot of the weirdness in this community with the rational sense that adults do weird shit with each other and it's okay, within a reasonable context. Cub porn moves away from the concrete of adult work to ambiguity and I don't embrace it, period. By continuing to participate here, through the submission of my work, I would be enabling the behavior to continue.
I don't feel like I should have to convince you of anything you don't believe in, just want to test your convictions and whether they stand in logical reasoning or not. One of the things that had me say something was specifically your intro. You say that you put up with a lot of crap, but THIS is where you draw the line. Okay, why here? Why did you put up with the other crap to begin with if it's also against your convictions? etc etc. It implies a compromise or contradiction of values in there somewhere.
Finally, if this is really what you believe in and think you'd be enabling the behavior to continue by staying, you put far too much significance on your own contribution to the site. It will continue to operate as it has with or without you -- so really accomplishing little to effect the behavior of the site as a whole, the only other real effect this has is showing people you're willing to do something almost completely futile for your beliefs. But, at least I guess you won't feel like you PERSONALLY are enabling said behavior -- though that could have been made perfectly clear through less rash methods.
Yes I'm faced with a great many of contradictions. We all are when we break out of apathy and take positions. I will work towards eliminating all unreasonable contradictions. There are contradictions you just can't avoid as a human being. Someone confronted me with rape, beastiality, and all the other sorts of strange fetishes within our community. Rape and beastiality I hold in the same circle as cub porn, completely intolerable. Now that I've been awakened, I am reinforcing my principles and eliminating my contradictions.
I no longer use VCL, fchan, or playmouse as they all allow this kind of work. Someone mentioned FurNation, but I don't use it anyway, so it doesn't matter.
It's not wrong for someone like me to come to terms with their principles and personal morals. I seek to remedy and create balance within myself. Unfortunately, that means I must sacrafice my participation in FA on top of the rest.
LoL, I know I continue to reply here, so I haven't completely gone, but I do this out of respect. I'd feel rude to simply stop communicating with you as long as our conversation continues.
I know my actions are futile and do not have impact. I'm not a Max Black Rabbit or Eric Shwartz. I don't command influence within the community, however if influence is the only reason I would do this, then it would negate my moral principles. I'm not leaving with the hopes of bringing others with me. I'm not leaving because others are leaving either. If I was the only one leaving, I'd still leave. I don't consider me terminating my willful participation in a site rash... Rash would be going to each and every supporter of this decision, bad mouthing them, then getting myself banned trying to disrupt the functions of the site. That would certainly be rash, but voluntarily ending my participation is not rash at all.
