So, I live in the Rainbow State, which is frustratingly still fighting to legalize same sex marriage. Religious opposition is incredibly heavy here and while they don't have the actual numbers, they mobilize very quickly through their churches. What that means is that at the outset of a lot of debate, they have a very loud and disproportionately large presence, creating the illusion of a large percentage of the state opposing same sex marriage.

A local news station is running an online poll, and it looks like the religious groups are flooding it again. What's worrisome is that while they don't actually represent all of the state, lawmakers and policy makers will be looking at this result to gauge public opinion.
