So I haven't uploaded anything in a while now, and for a good reason.. Ever heard of the game "I wanna be the guy"? If you have (or if I've told you about it already), then you'll understand what has kept me busy the past month >.< If not, check out Cloud8745 play it while narrating here: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user.....mp;view=videos (search for "I wanna be the guy")
warning, lots and lots of words ahead! Scroll down all the way to read the other news
A few friends of mine had mentioned this game to me before, and had started playing it already way before I began.. I spent many hours and days on it, trying the first time on Hard.. I had watched Cloud play it before, so I kind of knew what the game had in store for me, but playing it myself proved to be harder than watching someone else play it.. I changed the controls to my use of the keyboard, and so started my journey.
I defeated the Mike Tyson, and managed to reach the screen before entering Mecha Birdo that same day before I called it a day. The next day I managed to beat Mecha Birdo after many attempts, but I did it ^ ^;. Getting to the third boss, Dracula, was pretty difficult, and I died a lot because of those annoying Medusa heads paralyzing me while the witch took care of the rest..
Then I finally reached Dracula.. and spent over 6 days and over a 100 deaths trying to defeat this evil bitch.. I've memorized the conversation the kid has with him >.> "What is a man?" *dies* darn glass.. When I beat him, I was so happy my body was trembling and I was laughing and crying.. Yes, I was crying.. but I didn't care, it was over! >:3
I then went back to where I first began the game, and took the second path.. The elevators were okay, and it was easy passing them. Then I came to the bullet bull and shy guy part. After many attempts, I passed that part as well, and came into the Tetris area.. yeah.. didn't like that area.. but nothing was stopping me from becoming the guy, so I tried and tried and passed it! Then came wall-jumping.. man, it took me a lot of tries to master that technique, but once I did, it started to become fun ^ ^ Now it's my top favorite thing in the whole game X3
Getting to Kraidgief took some time and patience, but I got there :3 The first try I tried defeating him, I didn't quite know what I was up against, but after a few tries I managed to get to know his pattern and avoid his attacks, and so tried to defeat him the normal way.. Yes, there's a way to glitch him, either by shooting a certain amount of bullets before he gets into his second phase, but also by pressing K multiple times X3 When shooting didn't work, I did that, and so defeated him.. by cheating.. but really, defeating him the normal way is suicide!
Then came the Megaman stage, and getting through that was easy.. once I got the hang of it >.>;; Next came the Quickman part, and that was a toughie.. But after getting to know the pattern of the way the blocks would move up or down, I got passed it, and prepared to face my fourth boss..
Defeating Bowser/Wart/Wily was pretty hard as well, seeming I couldn't fire fast enough to kill the Banzai Bill, but when I learned about a glitch in that area, I managed to do it the next try ^ ^ (with luck, of course) And so I went back up to the part Ryu jumps up from the floor and starts spinning around rapidly.. After dying for over 40 times in trying to get past him, I finally managed to get back to where my journey began.
I took the second path again and went through the Tetris stage with ease this time, knowing how the blocks would fall and when to jump. Next was wall-jumping again, and I had many enjoyable hours wall jumping before getting to Kraidgief again, all just to reach the megaman stage again.. And yes, I know there's a faster way to get there, but I didn't know how to do that back then, so hush >.>
Then came the Megaman stage, and went down the tunnel with spikes to reach the Metroid area.. yay me for getting there ^ ^ Darn Mother brain for killing me there >.> At this time I had already caught up with one of my friends, who was also struggling with Mother Brain. I beat it first, though, and made my escape before the timer ran out.. of course, after getting to know the area >.>
Many deaths and the joy of being launched into the air by couches or jumping from fading block to fading block later, I arrived back at the 'gate to the guy'. Having defeated all 6 bosses, I was allowed to enter the area, and so started my '10000 km ride to the guy", with the great Ducktale's Moon stage song playing while I died and died..
Defeating the mecha Dragon at the end took some time figuring out how to dodge the big balls of fire, just as it was trying to even get there >.< But yay, I discovered how to avoid its attacks, and after a few tries to get back to land I finally defeated it!
So now I was in the palace of the guy, with the awesome "Monty on the Run - Main Theme" song playing, which is still one of my favorites from the entire soundtrack. By this time I had passed another one of my friends X3 Getting past the fire and flames caused a few deaths, but it was fun trying :-P So next came the labyrinth.. Yeah, I completely forgot how to pass this one, and I didn't have internet access the time I was playing that part, but after many deaths I finally remembered how to go through it without being killed by MagiKoopa's..
I saved and went through the Hall of Former Guy's, starting with Bowser, who shot a flame at you when you passed the room.. unfortunately I saw it too late the first try.. The Sinistar part was fun, the Vic Viper part was easy, the Mike Haggar part annoying and the Ryu Hayabusa part was funny.. the Master Higgins part was tough, but I got the secret item :3 Next came the Final Tower of the guy.. gah, that was so hard o.o; Either I jumped too early or to late, each time dying by spikes >.> But yay, many attempts later, I reached the Killer Save Point.. Yes, a save point that kills >.> Easy to defeat, if you know about it first..
Next came the guy... a.k.a. the father..
"Die Monster!-!WHOZAWHAT? YOU?!"
"What's this?! ANOTHER CHILD? Haha, one more for my score.."
"I have bested fruit, spike and moon.. Now I shall best you, the guy!"
"No, not the guy.. the father.."
"What?!"
"Yes, now I recognize you.. SON! The hair, the shirt, the cape.. you are one of my younger colors"
"That's impossible!"
"Check your inventory screen, kid, you know it to be true.."
"Wait, former grandfather the guy.. YOU KILLED HIM!"
"As you will try and kill me.. OR BE KILLED YOURSELF!"
"NO! I WANNA BE THE GUY!"
hee hee, I've challenged him over a 100 times already, and sure, in the first few 50 tries I didn't make it past the first round, but once I made it to the second phase, the first one became easy.. But getting through phase two was hard as well.. Then I finally did it! ^ ^ So yay, I watched the end credits roll, until the end where the apple falls and kills you unless you avoid it.. I didn't avoid it, the apple hit me, I died, but it's okay, it won't hurt my results.. Press R to retry.. and then I went back to the part with the killer save point..
The game hadn't saved my game after I defeated the guy, so I was like "meh, let's try again then.." And so I beat him again.. End Credits.. apple at the end.. death.. hit R to retry.. Start f end credits again. I raised an eyebrow and let the end credits go for a while before pressing R, just to be sure.. Start of end credits.. so I was like "Yay, it finally saved!" so I closed the game and opened it again to see how many times I died.. back at the part of the killer save point? WTF? Then I was like "Ah screw it, I beat him twice, I'm satisfied >.>"
And ever since then I beat him twice over, the game still not saving after the end credits, but I don't care; beating the guy is fun now X3 The game itself is fun as well once you get to know it.. Until you try it a step higher, at Very Hard.. I was challenged by
Redguardian to try that, and so I did.. Man, it's just the same as Hard, only with lesser save points.. Way lesser save points >.> Like before Dracula.. It's okay, I challenged him twice before I tried Very Hard, and both times managed to defeat him after only two deaths.. On Very Hard, however, I beat him at the first try o.o;
But I played through the game on Very Hard, and am now in front of the Killer Save Point once again ^ ^ And no, I will not play the game on Impossible mode.. with no save points >.>;
Anyway, that's the reason I've been so unactive (or mostly active on playing IWBTG).. but now i finally have something new to offer.. I've been seeing the movie Kung Fu Panda a lot lately, and became a huge fan of it.. A while later I found a really really good fanfic, and it got me reading even though I'm not a reader at all.. The stories were a Po/Tigress pairing, and I fell in love with them ^ ^ That's caused me to want and try to write my own Kung Fu Panda fanfic, and so I have :3
I think I did pretty good on my first try :3
