Crafter's meme!
It's not a meme until it spreads. From Mordrude!
What do you make/craft?
Snake shed pendants and acrylic paintings
Professional, hobby, or in between?
Professional. It's my second/third job though
Does your family/non-fur friends know about your craft?
Yes. My family might not quite get the furry thing, but they respect my craft and are finally seeing me grow as a business woman
How do you really feel about your work?
I used to be pretty thrilled about it. Lately I think I'm in a slump and having a hell of a time getting out of it. Art doesn't make me as happy as it should and I need to resolve this.
Do you ever get anxious trying something new?
Honestly, not really. I don't put too much stress into testing something new. I only get anxious when I try to elevate that new idea into a masterwork
What first got you interested in your craft?
I used to think fursuits were creepy (to be fair, I'd never seen realistic ones) until I went to the mall with an ex and an ex-friend and put on a silly paw glove in the pet store and derped about pawing at things. Something trivial, right?
How dirty/disorganized is your workspace?
I have a second bedroom I have converted into my studio. It's an unmitigated disasterzone... I blame the wedding for eating up the room with wedding stuff. Now that I am married I just can't find the energy or the drive to clean it up and organize it
Have you ever had to clean crafting debris off of your bed? (Eraser shavings, stray fur fibers, etc)
yes....
What's your favorite background noise when crafting?
Movies or audiobooks
Who was/were your artistic inspiration?
LeccathuFurvicael, Don Wheeler, Bill Love, my mother
Where would you like to be with your craft in five years?
I would like to have a recognizable style/brand. I'm tired of being behind the scenes and I seriously need to elevate my trade so that I don't keep getting lost in the background noise
If you could trade your skill in your craft for equal skill in another, would you? If so, which craft would you rather do?
No, I like what I am good at and it works for me
Which tends to come out better, your personal work or your work for others?
It depends. I like when I get a great inspiration from a client. I also like when I am inspired myself. This winter will be the season of Snakes and Glass thanks to an awesome photographer friend that is allowing me access to his hi res photos
What's the biggest pitfall of your craft?
Resin never comes out of anything it lands on..... many a ruined pair of pants
What's the best thing about your craft?
When a masterpiece comes out and it is magnificent
Which is your favorite piece you've made to date?
My iguana shed. I have never managed to find pieces of iguana shed with the spines still attached again. It's a piece of art
Where do you need to improve the most?
Turnaround time, not letting frustration eat away at the quality of my work, actually getting down to work. I need to find my metaphorical voice in my artwork. Something that when people see something they know that was done by me, that they would be interested in seeking me out to make their dreams come true. My favorite quote I've seen is "Art is hard! STOP PRETENDING". I need to stop hiding, following trails forged by others, riding the coat tails of people I look up to, and take risks and live with them
