Just came across some new information about the third Ice Age movie set to release on July 1, 2009. One of the funnier things revealed is that Skrat gets a girlfriend in this movie. Her name is Skratte. How original.

Watch the large HD trailer and you can see that they did a really great job on the fur simulation on Skrat and Skratte. I really like the look of the render engine Blue Sky Studios uses.

Looks like the whole gang from Ice Age 2 is back for this round with the addition of Skratte. There's virtually no information about the dinosaur characters, so I'm tending to think they don't have much of a role in the movie other than to chase the main characters. I just hope the T-Rex shown in the teaser trailer is an amusing character in some way.

Also, it looks like the movie will be shown in 3D in at least some theaters. I like that since it's always fun. I hope they show it in Imax theaters as well.

Hope this one is good. I thought the second movie was a bit weak, though it looked really great visually. I guess we'll know in about 7 months!
