I've noticed this a lot with people I chat with, and those who I leave comments on. When almost everyone gets called cute, adorable, or sweet, why the heck do they flat out deny that comment?
"Aww, you are so cute!" Such a simple, cheerful compliment, yet it's almost always met with "I'm not cute!" Or "huffs and pouts" and so on.
My views may be different, but for someone to call me cute, or any similar compliments, it just makes my day freaking awesome! It's probably because I know I'm a very f--ked up individual. My fetish list is crazy long, in real life I'm a stereotypical lumberjack, and I'm anything but cute. For someone to call my fursona in such a manner, kinda feels like they are also referring to me myself that way.
Why do you all deny being called cute and stuff? For me, it is the greatest compliment I could receive.

Although I didn't know those comments about your generosity made for feel uncomfortable. Now adays it is hard to even picture someone willing to raise money for any charity. Being kind is getting rarer and rarer in today's generation, so I suppose seeing a cute little squiggle working her bum off to raise money for relief efforts, is in deserving of praise and support.
You are the only person I've seen that doesn't have ulterior motives when it comes to being generous.
So sorry for making you uncomfortable, but all around you are a super super amazing squiggle!
It's also why my Rat is a scruffy looking character.
I just don't find myself comparable to a cute, cuddly kitten or puppy though. Thus, when I'm called cute, I just get confused. @.@
I imagine it has a fair amount to do with how they might have been treated as kids as well, a 10 year old 'man' might not appreciate being called cute, especially if it's in something like a tux that they don't want to be in on top of everything else. There's also the ones that deny being cute, cutely when they put more effort into showing how cute they're not being.
I guess it's just holdover from that. I dunno. I don't think I am is what it boils down to. Less of a game and more of how I perceive myself. ^^;
