in defense of bad art

i like strange things
i like very strange things!
and i have to say that there's a lot of strange things on this site.
it might be porn that looks like it was drawn by a 3yo with crayons. maybe it's a particularly clever imagining of some kind of fetish. maybe it's a bizarre style. maybe it's an unintentionally funny photo someone took of themselves.
i generally attribute my stalking of wtf_fa and its ilk to just me being an asshole, but thinking about it, I think I really do enjoy this art on some level. maybe it is its honesty and originality. it makes people go WHAT THE FUCK because on some level it is more twisted and original than animal people with dicks and tits and fetishes.
I really wonder about what went into making the picture and, in a lot of cases, what went into making the artist too. are they sheltered? are they part of a bizarre culture? do they have a mental illness? where did they get the inspiration for this? it sounds sarcastic and snarky but those are honestly points of interest to me.
in any case, wtf art fulfills the only real goal of art I know of; to be memorable and to have some kind of impact. to provoke SOME kind of reaction. disgust and dismay are just as valid as awe and arousal imo. and that's more than a lot of the mediocre vanilla / technically skillful dreck on this site.
