I really...really hope it isn't true that this was the last FurFright ever....

FF 2013 was my first con...ever. It was my first time meeting other furs in person. I lived for a month in Connecticut and connected with FurFright attendees at the Town Line Diner meet in Rocky Hill. I made tremendous friends and had my life change before my eyes.....and after coming back to Idaho started my very own regional fur meet and facebook group.

I found new purpose at FurFright...came home a different person by everyone's account...I simply cannot believe that it could just be gone..and still hope that this is only a vicious rumor.

To all of you I met at FurFright....what would be the next most convenient con for you to attend instead? FAU? MFF? I can't believe I have to ask...but I don't want to lose touch with you all.

It now becomes even more imperitive to finish uploading photos and video from FurFright, as well as finish the Fursuit ID Project....what may be the last in FurFright history :(

Someone needs to step up and replace this con...if only the folks from the Rocky Hill meet could do something.

that kind of rumor was going around before the con happened and I gues that kind of rumor was an annual thing.

everyone would say that the con was going to go on for one more year and then shut down for good. other rumors said it would be furFright but under a different name and different leadership.

I wouldn't panic. tere are plenty of other conventions to attend.

yeah but the con is likely to just choose some new chair members. I know a guy whos staff. he confirmed that a bunch of others folks can step up and stuff. fur fright has already signed contracts witht he hotel for next years space.

They have, but the contracts are going to be for a new con to replace FurFright, as the FF con chairs want the FF name to stay retired. So now we enter a phase of choosing a new name for the new FurFright - Under New Management

Hopefully this isn't true, and if it is, then hopefully someone will step up to the plate and try to keep it running. Considering the original journal is gone i can't really form an opinion.

All I'm going to say is don't believe everything you read on the internet. The FF website never gets overhauled before January anyway it's been like that as long as I have been paying attention and attending this con, and for the last 3 years it's been the same thing over and over again. If no "Official" verification is made it's a rumor by someone that's been trying to destroy a successful con for years. Until you see an announcement From Belic or K'gra on the FF Facebook page, website, or live journal, the Con is still on as far as I'm concerned, or at least till I talk to a friend that's part of the staff.

That's just it though, some people on staff are starting to privately confirm that this is true. Take a look at the comments below this journal here: www.furaffinity.net/journal/5306900/

I'd consider JT to be a trustworthy person, so I believe he really is in contact with other staff as he mentioned.

I really hope that all of this is just the latest rumor...but this one seems to be quite convincing if is...

Yeah I spoke with Mike and he confirmed it for me that it indeed was true. I saw the Live journal post as well, the thing is even though they have stepped down that does not mean that someone wont step up if they have the time and means to do so and I'm sure Belic and K'gra would be more than willing to hand over the con to someone they see capable of doing it. So as this may seem like the end tor FF for now there are still 11 months until the original planed date next year. We can all hope someone will pick up the mantle and continue this convention.

FYI Belic said at closing ceremonies... IT IS A RUMOR!!!! It is only a rumor... as far as I know I am a staff member and that we will be there on the 31st of oct to the 2nd of nov :)

While I am not any official FF staff member, i can at least back up kalieo above in so far as Belic himself said that any Rumors about FF ending are only that, rumors. They are not planning on ending, leaving, or going anywhere. Stay Calm, and furry on!

indeed. didn't help that there was the rumor beforehand, to confuse the actuality that fell in short order afterweard. the boy cried wolf and i didnt believe it at first.. on the second calling.

Well the thing is....while some staff members say it's a rumor, others are saying they themselves got the phone call and email friday.
and now the letter is posted on the Furfright Livejournal.
So, while my sources are very good...I will still do the wait and see thing.

I hope it is a rumor, was the first Furry con me and Aubery (jesspess) 's first time there and it was great. Hope there is another next year.

Same here...the con meant everything to me as my first, and the place where I truly found myself as a person. We have to coordinate a replacement con if we can so that we can all hang out again. I'm up for suggestions on my latest journal. I don't want to lose touch with the FF family.
