Drop it. It's frustrating enough having to wait 6-12 months for a fucking transfer. Maybe at the very most, a 1 month transfer and an in-depth background check; 4473 it with a mandatory further review. It's not uncommon knowledge that they're more powerful weapons, and I believe it's sensible to only sell them to people who can pass an extended background check like the one you get for a CCW.

The whole "can only buy stuff made prior to May 1986" thing needs to go. It'd free up a lot of guns, and while it would dramatically drop the value of the ones I own, it's a small price to pay to make newer machine guns and Class IIIs available for purchase on an open market.

yeah sadly there are some Machine Gun owners who don't want the NFA to be repealed because they don't want their MG's that cost thousands of dollars to become worthless in a sense. (at least compared to what they paid)

Those people who have a lot of them, should be the last ones to worry about their monetary investments in them, and the first ones to support repealing the stringent laws that make them so difficult to get ahold of.

My only issue with current gun control policy is the only people it seems to affect are the LAWFUL gun owners. Most guns that are used in criminal activities are stolen or purchased illegally anyways, right? So how does a gun control policy really affect them, when they don't go through the proper channels in the first place?

Now I will say this..I don't really think having a .50 cal machine gun (I'm just using this as an example mind), with enough ammo to clear out the super bowl, is really something someone should be packing. That's not really home defense, that's just absurd.

It seems like the 'casual' gun owners are really feelin' the pinch with each new gun control law passed, they either have to side with "gun nuts" (sorry to use that term, but c'mon..if you've got an arsenal that puts a national guard armory to shame, there's an issue there) or just remain silent as no one on the other side of the argument really doesn't seem to know anything about guns and doesn't want to listen to anything counter to their points. It's like being stuck inbetween two shouting deaf men who keep asking what the other one said.

Who has the right to say what's absurd and what's not, though? If i want it and can afford it it is my RIGHT to own it until such time as i actually commit a crime and forfeit my rights.

Common sense? But I digress, overall I agree with the right to bear arms, but I think a sense of moderation couldn't hurt.

If it's legal to own a pistol then owning an SBR w/o a permit should be a no-brainer. Adding a buttstock to a Browning HP doesn't make it more lethal.

and making an actual RIFLE CALIBER firearm an SBR actually makes it LESS EFFECTIVE by reducing velocity and accuracy so no one can say it's less deadly.

Being an NFA manufacture, Id be happy with just seeing the process streamlined... All Forum 1's and 4's are running us 8-9 months now. At any one time the NFA has between 60-80 thousand forums backed up. Even forum 3's are taking 2 months to get back to us, and thats dealer to dealer.

Many NFA dealers would be quite upset if the 86 ban was repealed, we all stock pile them ;)

Of course not, it's a business, he might care but the guys at the top more than likely don't. I wouldn't say 'he's' making money off of it, he probably won't even see another dime off of this. He's just saying it'll make the work easier for him and the others, which I can say isn't a bad thing.

Exactly! And like I said, you probably don't see a dime more for it all either. I really dislike seeing someone who works for a business/company/etc. receive scorn for actions THEY HAVE NO CONTROL OVER. Hell most people should be glad they even have jobs nowadays, so to fault someone for working at a business that makes a decision you don't like, is absurd. Yes I'm using that word again.


Note: I still agree the NFA policy here is bullshit, the right to bear arms is a right and I for one do celebrate it. But it's one that should be better respected by ALL SIDES honestly.

The only people affected by the NFA are law abiding citizens. If I wanted an automatic weapon with no paper trail, I'd go to Los Angeles and get one off of a gang banger in south central. Since the constitution won't allow for the outright ban on weapons, anti-gunners have to settle with imposing regulation in order to make firearms ownership as impractical as possible.

Like I can go up to the Bronx in NYC and point out numerous spots I can buy a fully automatic AR-15 or AK-47 for like $1000 bucks, if that.
