It's a Marshmallow World... or is that Peppermint Winter?

Right now snow is falling gently upon Winnipeg.
It's what I call a 'Sugar Sifter' snowfall because it reminds me of what it's like when I put confectioner's sugar through a sieve to make it all light and fluffy for baking. It's rather pleasant and peaceful outside and I caught myself singing "Marshmallow World" while shoveling, and this surprised me. Usually by this time of year I'm already experiencing "Christmas Burnout", an expression I use to describe how one feels after being bombarded with all manner of holiday paraphernalia since October. This year it feels like the merchants are giving us some recovery time between the various celebrations.
It's nice to have the Christmas spirit this close to the actual holiday for a change.
It's a little embarrassing when your friends catch you singing carols in July.

I know what you mean. I feel like I've got more Christmas spirit this year than I've had for awhile. Maybe this is just one of those years where a little holiday season is just what the soul needs for a change.
