Second thoughts on tagging
"I have to ask you the same question people back home are asking about space these days. Is it worth it? Should we just pull back? Forget the whole thing as a bad idea, and take care of our own problems, at home."
I found (or re-found) that gThumb supports tagging(and it tags in the file metadata), and it was also opening some files the XFCE image viewer doesn't. So I got through tagging and sorting some of the smaller portions of my image collection, and noticed I had a few duplicates as I started to get into the Toku section. And when I searched for duplicates, was promptly reminded just how many files I had left to tag. x..x
I'm really having second thoughts now on the whole tagging business, but then if I stick to the plan I had been planning(artist folders where possible, tag on the other attributes) it's going to limit the ease of finding previously saved stuff by theme. I was already planning to skip tagging my local copies of my art CDs... should I say screw it, sort now, and tag later? Stick to my plan of sorting as I tag?
Not really expecting much feedback(as there was none on the previous journal) but any thoughts form anyone who's dealt with a large image collection would be appreciated.
