I'd be rich in terms of dictionaries if I had a dime/cent/dollar every time I had to ask "What does (insert commonly used word here) mean?"

That's what google and urbandictionary are for. Heck, I'm a native english speaker, and sometimes I find myself looking things up. A lot of times when I talk to someone who's first language isn't english, I just use a translator to talk to them in their language.

I also know that I can use dictionary sites, which I often do~ BUT I want a hand-held english dictionary for the single reason that I'm gonna dig my nose into it daily and remember tons of new words, this being a handy thing to just carry around whenever I'm up and about, y'know?

Yep. Though they don't really hold that much into it for words like a normal dictionary does. It seems like you want a lot of words to know. Heh. So best thing to do is have a cellphone or smartphone that has an internet browers, so you can have an online dictionary. ^^
