Furry dating sites -rant-
I've been trying to look for more fur friends for quiet some time now. It turns out that I don't get along with furries compared to people. I'm not exactly sure why, probably because I get creeped out easily, or possibly its because of my hatred for roleplay (I'm bad at it) or that I'm just not committed to the furry fandom. The reason as to why I've been looking is because I literally have only 1 fur friend. Don't get me wrong, I love him to death, but I want to try to get more friends to try to get in touch with my furry side (I literally forget I have one from time to time). If there was a movie to describe my life, its "I Love You, Man" I feel awkward talking to new people.
So in an attempt to make more fur friends I googled furry dating sites and signed up to the first 4 sites I find. First one was furrymate, it literally looked like a match.com site but with furries. I never been to match.com, but I imagine that it looks a lot like furrymate. Anyways did the whole profile thing and whatnot. But it seems that everytime I log out and sign back in, all the pictures I uploaded are gone. I know I clicked save and made sure I wasn't posting anything that was against the rules but my stuff keeps getting deleted. A week later I get a email saying someone sent me a message in furrymate. I will admit I was overly excited. I log in and noticed my stuff was gone again, but whatevs I wanted to see the message. Come to find out that I have to pay to read messages... yea, not gonna happen.
So the second site was pounced.org. I've used it before, but the last time it didn't go so well. So I tried it again, updated and everything. I know for a fact I wasn't going to find anyone local. I mean, I live in Rhode Island, if there were any local furs, they'd be my next door neighbor (rhode island is small joke). Anyways, no takers. Almost makes me think I'm just hated in the furry community...
Third was furfling. the only furry dating site that allows adult content. But like the first site, my pics gets deleted... ugh. But I seem to get a lot of messages for some unknown reason. But exactly like the first one, I have to pay to read messages. Why I have to pay to read anything is beyond me. This site much like the first one, is god awful.
Last is furrydate. Which also requires some payment for certain things. I'm not exactly sure for what, I haven't been back to that site since day one because I've been violating their rules supposudly. I'm not exactly sure how, but I got a warning without even filling my profile out yet.
I even tried to see if I can make more friends here, but nothing. Guess I'm just too different for the furry world... oh well! At least I have one friend. Guess that's all I need.

I don't think you're too different for the furry world, it's more that everyone is different and being a furry is like having a favorite video game genre. It's not as defining of a character trait as it can seem sometimes. You'll find smart, idiotic, charming, awkward, nice, cruel, and every type inbetween when it comes to furries. Being a furry generally won't make or break a friendship. You need more than that. It's not a bad place to start for common interests but you'd have as much luck meeting a random person at wal-mart. We're really varied.
As such the method I find works best is to approach other people yourself, find profiles you like and ask them if they want to talk, find people with common interests, etc etc. It's not a foolproof method, I've had more than one person literally laugh and go, "no" when I approached them but that's fine. I wouldn't want to be friends with people like that anyway, they did me a favor. It's not going to work every time. Meanwhile I met people I enjoyed the company of and had great times. There are a lot of people out there you could probably get along with but they're just waiting for the right person to find them instead of looking themselves and so they don't see your profile. "It's better to be ignored than rejected" I believe the mentality is. Unfortunately the world rarely works like that so they often don't end up with many hits either so you're certainly not alone there. I know how hard that can seem and how scary it is at first but making the first move is the most reliable way of meeting people.
If you know you have a weakness, work on it, fix it, and keep looking for people. Just don't mistake uncommon preferences with weaknesses. There will be people who don't like you because maybe you like plushies or video games or socks or whatever. Doesn't matter. There will always be someone. So don't let it get to you when it happens. In the end though it's all up to you to make your life how you want it to be.
There's not anything I can do to help unfortunately as I'm super weird and you're easily creeped out but I still wish you luck, there are people out there who would be great friends with you, you just have to find them :)
