Someday when FA is cold and dead, filled with Zoophiles and people from inkbunny. Maybe then they will realize their error.

I really hope Weasyl's community becomes approachable to FA, but for now, I doubt it.

It doesn't seem bad at the moment.

It's a question of userbase. FA has been around a long time, so it has the monopoly of users. As more people migrate to other sites, they'll pick up.

I've not had enough time on Weasyl to form a full opinion, but so far it seems to work a hell of a lot better than FA. I'm not sure about the browsing interface, and there's a few little things I'm not sure about, but from a comic drawers point of view, it's got a really good setup.

For starters, you can put things into collections, so hopefully the ability to go through a comic page by page without stupid shortcodes, plus user profiles allow uploading of character profiles, so you can put your cast into their own tabs. It's a simple idea but is something I can't wait to have a shot at.

The only thing I can say, is give it a try and see if you like it. As other sites start to push users away, others will grow.

And the fact that you can't even debate the legality of these rules is pretty shitty to say the least.

I realize I said legality, I meant practicality.

The illegal discussion is actually an attempt to make FAF more like FA and not to coverup discussion of Chase's history. That's already covered under staff callout/whatever and that's how we've been treating it.

I think the thread you got infracted for is definitely borderline and I urge you to appeal it.

The forum rules should not be infallible and should be open for discussion, even if it's in an unorthodox way and I know we've definitely intended to allow criticism. I think the problem lies with people still being sensitive and a little trigger happy after the whole shitstorm about Chase's appointment/other mod dismissals that they're interpreting things as attacks that shouldn't be taken like that.

I'd hate to see you gone, especially for something like that. You're honestly one of my favorite posters.

I don't think my thread was borderline. I made it to break those rules in an attempt to show how blindingly stupid they are.

Take for example that state thats just legalised weed. I'm pretty sure there's a good thread in there, see if one states experiences with legalising a drug shows a beneficial or detrimental effect. But no, it's illegal so no discussion.

It's pretty obvious that this new rules have been rushed through. People keep calling his suitability into question, so suddenly a rule gets passed to stop any discussion on that topic. It's as unsubtle as my thread was.

No, I stand by my decision to leave. At the very least I don't agree with the way the place is going, the changes have left a lot of regulars who haven't even been banned feeling as if they're somewhere on a list of undesirables. Dragoneer even said in that town hall meeting that he wanted to change the atmosphere of the forums. The users create the community and atmosphere. Get rid of them and the reasons to be there are gone.

Add to that the whole Chase situation. There are logs, it's activity that he should have been banned for yet friends seem to get a free pass into controlling positions. I'm not going to say that giving friends things to do on your site is necessarily a bad thing, but when you have someone so soaked in drama, it's awful PR to just let them have a huge portion of the site.

I don't like the way the administration is going, I don't like the idea of the place gradually turning pro-zoo. I am unwilling to participate in FAF and it would be hypocritical to continue using the mainsite if the forums offends me.

The guys in charge are not people who like to be questioned. The only thing to be gained from appealing a ban is to end up having to talk to them. minds have been made up and it's clear that a large number of older members are no longer wanted here.

Hopefully I'll see you whenever I get back around to checking out the Weasyl forums. It seems like they're going to be a lot more active than they have been, so I guess that's a silver lining.
