Current Plans: Going to Anthrocon the cheap way.

Well... pending on if I can raise the funds.
I'd have to kill all my vacation to spend the extra 2 days driving (14 trip, one-way... Chicago is the half-way mark), and I am getting room at a Motel 6 that is 10 minutes away... the cost is nearly HALF it would be if I took a train and got into one of the two main hotels for the Con... I might miss out on stuff, but hell, I can;t afford it.
We'll see with my up and coming Wallpaper Donation drives and Commission drives ;)
I'll also be looking into finding people to share the ride and/or the hotel with as well. I'm going to check with friends first and then elsewhere. Male, female, couples (any kind), GLBT, yiffers, or fursuiters... all not a big deal to me.
Still.. need to gauge my options.

It's a two bed room, but I only put a reservation for 1 person. I just checked, and they do up the price a bit for more people, but compared to the Main hotels for the Con, it's nominal (adding 2 more people appears to be around $10 more per night :P).
Also, since I'm planning to have my car, I can easily drive to the convention, and save on Taxi fares.
... All pending my car is in decent condition to drive 900 miles :P
Actually, I wonder if it would be cheaper for you guys to have a flight that ends in Minneapolis or Chicago (I assume you two would be flying?) Then we could car-pool, road trip it. Of course, the only other thing to worry about would be the amount of time it takes. Driving from Minnesota is 14 hours, Chicago is the half-way (7 hours). I can do a 7 hour drive alright (with a few breaks), but a 14 hour straight drive would be impossible. It's all timing and costs, and I'm sacrificing time for costs ;)
In any case, I'd totally be down for having you two on board! Options a-plenty! :P
Now just to start saving, begging, and earning the money for it :P
Yeah we'll have to start doing....something to save for this. Shouldn't be too hard for Mat because he gets an okay tax return that'll probably pay most of his way. Me on the other hand, money tends to disappear when it's in my custody. I end up wondering where the hell all of it went, and then realizing I spent it on piddly things and fast food. I need a swift kick in the ass sometimes! lol
And so, let the games begin!
Upon first glance and picking kind of random dates at the Air Canada site, it'd cost us $357 per person, each way to fly to Minneapolis. It's cheaper to fly to Pittsburgh (I'm really not sure why but okay, lol).
When I was looking at train tickets, I thought it was a good deal... until I scrolled down and discovered the RETURN trip was there! haha (I've only ever driven, never trains, nor planes.).
Also, there's a Pittsburgh in Canada. Sure you are not looking at the wrong Pittsburgh? ;) :P
Still, that's crazy because there's a difference of 900 miles between Minneapolis and Pittsburgh! Oh well. Whatever the plan, we'll make it work.
Expecting that you want to be at the con ON July 2nd THROUGH the 5th, then this is what you'll need to plan:
If landing in Minneapolis, Early arrival on Wed, the 1st would be best. There'd most likely be a stop towards Chicago at a Motel 6 or campground that night. We'd arrive in the afternoon, most likely, on the 2nd. For returning, If we leave late on Sunday, it could easily take until Tuesday to get back into Minneapolis.
If landing in Chicago, Then nix Wednesday completely, and expect to be back in Chicago by Monday.
Minneapolis and Chicago locations can easily be adjusted to flight times and such. but there is PLENTY of time to plan.
If landing in Pittsburgh, well, then you only really need to worry about me picking you up. Expecting the arriving flight would be ON the 2nd at some point.
Again, plenty of time for you guys to plan things, and view options.
Anyway, here is a Google Maps Link of my driving path:

(hopefully the link fits without breaking, but its as simple as Minneapolis, MN to Chicago, IL, to Pittsburgh, PA)
