It's coming...

My birthday! It's January 15th and gosh this month has been flying by for me. I'm going to be 24. ogeez. Also, I'm requesting my mom to acquire a cake called a cassata cake which is a cake I've hyperbole-d about since the one time I had it in my youth. At least I think it was a cassata, or the "cleveland version" which I didn't even know was a thing
From wikipedia
"In and around the American city of Cleveland, the term 'cassata cake' refers to a sponge cake soaked in syrup or rum, filled with strawberries and custard, and covered with sweetened whipped cream. This 'Cleveland' version of the cassata first appeared in the early 1920s at the local Italian bakery LaPuma Spumoni & Bakery. The children of the owners did not like traditional cassata cake, made with sweetened ricotta, chocolate chips, and candied fruit. Using what they had in the bakery, Tomasso LaPuma created what was to become known as the Cleveland cassata cake. The fifth generation of this bakery on Cleveland's East Side still continues to make the original version of this cake, as do many other Italian bakeries in the area."
I didn't even know it was called a cassata cake I just had these nostalgic memories of a whipped cream-like frosting cake full of strawberries, that every time someone asked me about cakes I would describe how it was the best cake I ever had. Well this year my mother is all excited to bring me one, I'm just paranoid it will never live up to these really high nostalgic memories of it. XD
Also I'm hoping my roomies will want to go to my favorite Japanese/Sushi buffet for my birthday, it's a little expensive so I haven't been there in awhile. There's a really cute little old man that makes the crepes and this soup that is so cute and I love him XD
