With Mario Kart, Zelda, DK, and Smash Bros all coming out in the future I'm pretty sure we're going to be stuck with the Wii U for a number of years. Or at least long enough until Smash comes out, and let's be honest, that is the real reason for getting the system in the first place.

I can't relate with that...I bought the Wii U for all Nintendo games.

Personally I got it for smash. HOWEVER, I have been enjoying many games on the Wii U. Certainly a bonus!

I don't feel comfortable calling masterpieces like Super Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Nintendo Land, Pikmin 3 and Sonic Lost World 'bonuses'. But I get what you're saying, many people buy the console for Smash.

Honestly with the wii U touchpad I really was thinking that they should just turned a 3DS into a controller so having it be a two part system doesn't really seem all that odd to me XD

It won't happen. Nintendo knows better than to try to discontinue one of their systems so fast. That's the problem that brought Sega down in the past, and Nintendo's been in the business long enough to know that they have to support the system for a while longer at least. Dropping the Wii U for a new system would make them lose a lot of integrity in the eyes of their fans.

Part of the problem is that everyone expected the Wii U to sell Wii numbers when the Wii, admittedly, was a huge gamble that just happened to make ridiculous amounts of money and sell untold amounts of systems. Part of the problem is the incredibly lackadaisical attitude a lot of third parties have taken towards the Wii U, as Nintendo delayed a bunch of their titles to give third parties pretty much the entire launch window to themselves, aside from NSMBU. Instead, they got a bunch of lackluster games, including lazy ports of the latest sports games and Mass Effect 3 (and only ME3, despite the Trilogy being out for other systems at that point and at a lower price), Rayman Legends was delayed for months and months before going completely pants-on-head retarded and launching in the same week of GTAV, just so they could put it on other systems, and a bunch of other things (Deus Ex: HR:DC coming out for $20 more on Wii U than on everything else, for one).

And in the end, people buy the Wii U not to play multiplatform games, but to have a unique experience that no other console can provide, while most third parties only want to make games that are virtually identical on every system so they can make as much money as possible in the first month of sales. And 5,000,000+ consoles in a year is still a pretty decent amount for a console that arguably only has 10-ish unique games (even when compared to the PS4 or Xbone, which launched with virtually nothing noteworthy and still sold ridiculously on name brand alone).
