Weird stuff I've noticed...

Has anyone else noticed that a lot of things that we tend to think of as 'good luck charms' are the result of unlucky occurrences?
-Take a four-leaf clover: Since it's rare, people tend to consider it "lucky." But because of this, they get picked nearly every time they get spotted--which makes them thoroughly unlucky.
-If you find a horseshoe--that means it's fallen off the horse whose feet it was supposed to protect.
-A lucky rabbit's foot--Really? The rabbit had FOUR of them, and someone CHOPPED HIS FEET OFF!
...*sigh* we are a strange, curious race to be sure.
--How about you, oh walkers of furdom? Are there any odd facts or practices you've come across that just strike you as odd, or make you scratch your head in confusion?
