Toaster Cause I really, dont ever want to see another shutdown.
And all this talk about us about to hit the debt ceiling again is really making me nervous....

For instance, instead of government workers we had police officers guarding our airport. I actually felt safe for once, and was able to talk to them and voice any concerns I had, whereas the previous workers didn't listen to people, and would shrug off the majority of airport goers who were trying to tell them anything important. (There was maybe...1 exception to this, and he was a really nice dude, who actually took his job seriously, and acknowledged the fact that being security in any respect meant listening to security concerns.)
Frankly I feel much happier, and much safer now that they're here. The fact that the officers weren't replaced after the government "Turned back on" was a testimate to how happy the locals were with them.
Besides, there /REALLY/ was not any major difference to the country when the shutdown happened. A few people were affected, and many vacations experienced a loss of major attractions. (Which is idiotic in my opinion, these places are PUBLIC property, the government has no right to tell us we can't walk into a public area, by putting up a tiny fence. I mean what are they going to do? Arrest me for standing on the fucking grass in front of a veteran's memorial? Really? If they did, that just shows the crappy police state mentality they're starting to have.)
The most affect that was felt in my city was that one of the major outdoor attractions had it's sign in booth closed. Oops.
So ALL THE POOR CITIZENS who came all the way to visit it had to "GASP" not sign in.
And then go walking around and visit it anyway because it wasn't barred off, since it's public fucking property.
There's a REALLY short list of things that you couldn't do during the shutdown:
You couldn't visit the capitol.
Get a new business loan.
Camp in a national park. (Note, NATIONAL park. Not Federal park. Nationalfuckingpublicpropertypark fuck you)
Go to the smithsonian
Visit civil war battlefields
Visit monuments
Have legal status checked for employees
Have permanent labor certification processed
Or continue being audited by the IRS. (Which sounds like it could be a good thing.)
Overall, I wouldn't be nervous by it. There's really not much that it's going to hurt. Some people had to take paid vacation, some had to take some unpaid vacation, but overall the lives of the day to day citizens weren't affected.
And besides all of that, Im a contractor on the Navy Base here. So even if its temp, that is still money Im loosing. And this is an on-call job anyway. So work during certant parts of the year are slow anyway. See the isse?
And unless I was still a kid in highschool, had experince in the field, and or as a manager, I cant just get a new job around here
I swear these people live on a different planet.
