Character Design Choices
(I'm going to try this here too.)
Whenever I show artwork of Hitani to people I know, they are generally shocked to find out that she is female. I think being able to identify the character’s gender at first glance is a good thing, but designing her to fit the average stereotypical portrayal of women is a bad thing(e.g. idealized proportions, submissive, revealing poses and angles, etc.). I don’t want to have to slap makeup and revealing clothes on her just so people can identify her as female. (let’s forget about all those drawings I did specifically of her ass for a second here, I’m trying to make solid design choices for a project). She should be a strong, attractive woman without appearing submissive, soft, or overly feminine(using this word liberally). She is supposed to be a strong warrior type, after all.
Do you think not recognizing her as female immediately is a good thing, or is it a flaw with my design? I’m hoping for honest opinions on this one.
(sorry if I have somehow offended someone with this, not my intention at all.)
To try and clarify further: it’s about accurately portraying the character as a strong, attractive female lead without resorting to making her appearance overly sexualized just so people can identify her as a female. I’m just wondering if my design suits that, and when people automatically assume she’s male, I wonder if that’s poor design on my part. Is she too masculine-looking to be identified as female, or do you think people just automatically look for tits and ass as verification?

So yeah I don't think you should change her at all; but if you did, don't make her revealing or slutty...just change the proportions abit on her shoulders/hips.
