Grammar isn't my Slice of Pie. Especially if its Not Pecan.
Toaster How many artists have you seen come back, even after saying how much this place sucks, and How Unsafe they felt?....
Im not making fun of them, but if you remember my last journal
Ill repeat my last words
""Good luck out there, but I won't be surprised if you come back""
Occasionally sme of these guys come back to pimp their Weasyl galleries. But...Ive noticed...even after this HUGE exodus...they still cant make ends meet outside FA.....
Is FA truely a Monopoly?
No matter how much you wanna leave, no matter how better these other places are. People almost ALWAYs come back.....

FA+

And yet, here some of them are, coming back and trying to open more commissions.
Somebody I really liked; probly the first person to Greet themwhen they joined left for weasyl, but now she is back, and isn't close to her monthly goal outside of FA....
It is kind of sad. Of course there other factors; like the convention.
But still....leaving FA seems to do artists more harm then good
I didn't leave, I'm not leaving, and I think it's stupid to ditch a community that has shown time and again to be the best for your needs over anything short of a personal attack that becomes untenable. I've seen more people turn into verbally abusive scumbags because of this than I care to count, and the hypocrisy of a lot of these people just astounds me.
Then again, Furry Drama.
I only visit A to lurk and stalk Non-Anthro artists that I LOVE
Of course also a large furry community oer there to, but DA is my non-human art center
I would be, it's hilarious to see them come scurrying back with their tails between their legs.
Even with jokes.
FA is far from perfect and I doubt it will ever improve, but it still has monopoly over every furry site on the internet.
So far I only know ONE person that is surviving on Weasyl, but thats also because of her following on Inkbunny.
The only person that has straight up left FA and really hasn't come back is ClockworkCreature. But even they came back for a little while (in a limited capacity) before recently going "fuck it" for good.
Though really they're so big they probably could use the lack of publicity haha.
Ah yes, the fursuit group I think.
Wasn't somebody who got stalked outside of FA and created a HUGE exodus early last year apart of that?
The big drama over the accused rapist staffmember is supposedly the same guy who stalked the friend of Quarazzel.
Lats month though, the CC account was uploading things. Every submission had a little disclaimer about how all the real work was on their website/tumblr, though. Then a few weeks back, whoever was the admin made a "fuck it, I'm leaving too" journal. I doubt it was related ot the drama (as it was far too delayed).
And for those who didn't want to admit, I noticed them under new accounts.
HMM. :/
Given these observations... I think the trend is that a segment of high quality artist folks have set things up so that a longer term exodus is possible now as the alternatives are gaining viability (and we can argue about if they're reached it elsewhere or not till we're blue in the face). Don't be surprised when another big flap happens and things just start going dark here, and people are posting why they left on Inkbunny or Weasly.
I'm no FA hater, but I do appreciate competition over a monopoly. I'm probably spending as much time here as elsewhere m'self now.
But I'm also an a-typical furry (if furry's are hipsters, am I a hipster hipster then? bah!) so my browsing habits are probably not the best gauge of things. I also avoid paypal like the plague (another silly monopoly) so I don't often buy things via internets but instead make cons my go to point for most my commissioning. But that said, if I can find good quality artists at site A or site B, I'll commission at con. But if they all leave A to go to B, that's not a problem for me as I still see them, and thus no market share lost with me.
A lot of the reasons for the exodus are complex of course, but at the end of the day, an artist should have the ability to gain exposure in multiple venues and still make a living even if they drop one. If we allow ourselves as a fandom to do the 'its been like this for like forever so it should always be like this' card, then we are doing our skill practitioners an injustice. As a consumer I'd rather go where the artists are, not demand they go where I hang out when they have moral qualms about such. To make such demands of them requires me to ask them to give up their principles, and that doesn't quite fit well with me. Even more so as my own attachment to any particular site is at the end of the day unimportant to my market goal.
In the end the artists will change nothing on FA, but loose a big part of their fans.
I'm staying put!
But remember. MySpace was this once, ans now facebook is the unstoppable juggernaut.
Until something replaces that. Eventually another site will gain enough mass to take over
Then we can all yell about leaving that site and then come back ;)
There's apparently a lot of people leaving DA because of art theft blabbitty blabbity 'this site sucks'. *shrugs* They need to realize that the site is really only as good as the people on it... and eventually, the fuckwads are going to muck up the other sites too. Just tune 'em out and live your life. No need to cause a fuss.
