Patterns really help define shape, so I'd suggest the white/black as making you look less like a shadowy cutout. Consider alternate color tufts or streaks around the face to emphasize features, or maybe go with a two-tone black--black/dark grey, black/dark brown, etc. It's still have the same overall effect but transitions between the shades of dark could give you lines that define parts of the face. I think the lady with the wolverine costume at TFF did this well.

The white stripe down the tail (and the size of the tail) may have people saying 'skunk!' -- but people ALWAYS call wrong now and then when looking at a furry picture or costume, you can't avoid that!

Do NOT pick teal. It's impossible to find fur.
