Fursuiting Woes

Yea.
I actually started on my fursuit... Kinda...
Im trying to make a form-fitting fursuit, but... Its hard to find the kind of material a long-furred kitty needs in stretchy fabric with more of a texture to it than pantyhose. ;_;
Ive started construction of my tail, which is actually working out well.
And if you've seen my more recent photo: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1797234/ , Ive got the ears pretty much figured out. Im going to make another set that will go on my fursuit head. Which is anothe rpart of my woes...
I have no idea how to sculpt foam, or even begin putting together the pieces for the head. Nor can I figure out what I would use to make the hot pink hair work. :/
Every site I look at, has examples of work in progress, but otherwise is no help, since they want money to build your suit for you. -_-
So can anyone offer me any help or suggestions?

If your carving with foam, scissors and exactos work really well.
If your gluing use hot glue. (make sure not to get burned)

I want to go to Anthrocon so bad...
Maybe make an appearance at Dragoncon, Comicon and Animazement if Im living back in NC by then. >.< I missed out on Nekocon this year, so yea... -_- Oh well.
I'd have to hump your leg though... In hopes of gaining a little bit of epicness.
