I've been looking for one myself, though as I understand it, the Cintiq is the only one with the familiar "paper" surface. Do you find the glass surface of the Yiynova more difficult to work with?

My dad gave me a Wacom Intuos 3 for my birthday a few years ago and I'm only just recently giving it a serious try (I'm pretty bad at digital drawing, but I really want to improve). The surface is pretty comfortable for me, but I have trouble drawing on the tablet on my desk, while watching my progress on the screen above it. Do you find that disorienting as well?

It takes only 15 mins top to get use to the glass surface. I would be a liar if I didn't say it bothered the hell out of me at first just because mentally I was imagining all the damage I was going to do, but this glass is super resilient and I have really come to love the smooth surface which is great for quick strokes. Once it is calibrated, the sensitivity is as great as my intuos 5 wacom tablet, there is no jitter, and the lines are crisp. I would give this 8/10 stars. -2 for no touch feature for rotating ect with your hand, I am having a slight issue with changing the hot keys (sure Ill figure it out), I don't like the VGA connection on my laptop, and lastly I don't like the bottom space of the monitor, makes me have to keep my arm higher and I am not use to drawing that way so my shoulder gets a little tired. I have seen people put it in their lap and stuff though so I might try that.

Also I heard the cintiqs matte surface can be a little cloudy and irritating so I guess it's a preference matter? (according to a review I saw on youtube comparing the two

Oooh, I hadn't considered that caveat before. That's definitely something I'll have to check on before I make a decision. I'll look forward to reading any thoughts you might share about it after some more use. =)

Yiynova seem to be gaining popularity as I've seen a few artists use them. And for a lot less then a Wacom device, it no wonder really

The price is good, but as I mentioned before the specs are are similar there is no reason Wacom should be charging so much..

Yeah very true. I guess Wacom charge so much because they can. And people pay it, especially when there's little competition

well since their patent ran out in 2011 they can expect to have some tough competition now lol

Ah yes, and hopefully it'll make Wacom drop their prices too
