OMG BLFC is almost here!!!!
I am SOOOOOO excited to be going back to BLFC again this year in Reno. Last year they set a new high for a first year con attendance of 704, and this year they are already at 996 pre-reg!! It is by far one of the most affordable fur cons not just for hotel, but for registration as well, and they have some totally radical swag for their 80's theme this year. Pre-reg even had the option to have their badge done as a floppy disk! They definitely listened to the feedback provided last year and this year looks to be even more awesome than last year!
...and in the grand tradition of con going, here is my BLFC meme :)
Convention Name:
Biggest Little Fur Con
Website:
http://biggestlittlefurcon.org
How are you getting there:
Flying
Hotel you're staying at:
The fur con's hotel, the Grand Sierra Resort

Rooming with:
My mate
devonrex
Gender:
Female
How tall are you:
5'7 ish
Are you mated/in a relationship?
Yep, married to
devonrex for almost 9 years now
Fursuit(s):
Wasn't able to get it done in time :( I will probably have ears and tail with me though.
Who you will be with a majority of the time:
I will be with my mate
devonrexof course, and also hanging out and helping
Lexi_Foxxx and
Star_Feralwolfe in the dealer's den, and trying to catch up with some of my AZ fur friends that I haven't seen in forever like
mysticpanther
gaybe_fox
kahluafennec
cosmichusky and anyone else I may be forgetting off the top of my head :)
Are you cliquey:
I try not to be, but I do have a few people that are close to me that I like to hang out with.
Main purpose for attending:
Don't think I can narrow it down to just one reason. I had a blast at the con last year and wanted to go back again. It has a really great vibe to it and the staff is awesome. Out of the conventions I've been to, it's by far my favorite.
Do you have a Dealers Den or Marketplace table:
Not my own, but you can find me at Arctic K9's table from time to time helping
Lexi_Foxxx and
Star_Feralwolfe and possibly helping to sell glowies during the dances
Do you take commissions:
Well, I can always use the practice and will have some of my art stuffs with me, so sure :)
Where you usually eat:
The buffet is pretty damned awesome here and where most meals went down last time. I hope they have those crazy big strawberries again *murr*
Parties:
If I'm not too exhausted, then absolutely!!! I'll be spending the few days before the con acclimating off my early work wake up schedule to get more night time fun in while at the con this year.
Fursuiting:
If ears and tail count, then yes. Otherwise, need to get the suit finished first.
Daily activities:
Attend panels, help out Arctic K9, meet up with old friends, enjoy yummy noms, gamble a bit, go bowling, catnap to stay up later...
Nightly Activities:
Drink, Dance, Party.. sleep really is overrated
What time I usually go to bed and get up:
due to work, I currently go to bed at 7pm, and wake up at 3am... this clearly is not cohesive with con schedules, so I will be shifting the schedule to stay up as late as I want so as not to miss any fun, crash when I turn walking dead, and then nap during slower periods in the day if need be to catch up on missed sleep.
Do you talk out of suit:
duh!
Do you talk in suit:
If I had one ready, yes since I plan on having a moving jaw in my suit.
Rules of engagement out of suit:
I'm pretty open to meeting new people, and hugs are perfectly cool, just please be washed/clean with no BO.
Rules of engagements in suit:
not applicable this year
Can I talk to you:
But of course!
Can I tag along with you:
Sure, but if I'm going to my room, please do not follow unless you were invited.
Can I give you hugs or snuggles?
Yuppers, hugs are a way better greeting than a handshake.
Can I dance with you:
I love to dance so sure, but anything too close will require approval from my mate. Sorry, he gets dibs on that one :)
Can I take pictures with you:
If you want to, sure :)
Can I buy you a drink:
Mew? Free drink? Yes please!
Can I buy you things:
*blinks and head tilts* Not sure what anyone would want to buy for me, but sure, if you really want to.
Best communication medium to reach you:
Text me if you have my number already, otherwise look for me at around the con. The open floor plan makes it pretty easy to spot people.

Also, *hugs* Be sure to have a good time this year!
Registration is another bonus for them, rather than focus on "meet and greets" or early entry times, they focus on take home swag only available through the various member options for that year's con. They went this route to help encourage people to upgrade to higher memberships, and give them some really nifty souvenirs and be the first to have these items. Last year we did their highest tier for $90 pre-reg ($100 at door), and got a deck of custom furry cards, a poker chip, t shirt, special con themed poster and a stainless steel drinking flask with con themed art etched into it and a 10% chance at free membership next year. This year, they will have a booth to sell left over swag from last year, which is brilliant, and the full swag this year includes a new pokerchip (their standard basic swag), tshirt, a furry custom rubik's cube done with art in theme to the 80's on each side, a con themed hoodie, and the 10% chance at free membership for next year.
The staff is also really cool, and very receptive to feedback by the con goers. The feedback session at the end of last year's con ran late and only stopped b/c the staff needed food badly. Even in the planning stages, I've already seen them integrating in some of the feedback from then too, including ideas for swag and the idea of doing badges on floppy disks for pre-reg.
The layout is rather different as well. It's essentially all held in one very large room. The layout heavily promotes a social atmosphere, and allows you to see alot at once so you don't ever really feel like you are missing out, and it is rather easy to find people.
I almost signed up to run a panel this year, but since I will be helping one of the dealers from time to time, I decided not to push it this year. Knowing my luck they would have scheduled me during the cribbage tourny (new this year). Next year though, I think I will. Given how much fun I had there last year, and will no doubt have this year, I think this will be the one con that I will definitely attend each year for the full length of the con. Hopefully this year, now that I have a new phone, I'll be able to take a bunch of pics, so you may see some posting floods from me :)
