Anthony Gatto is finished.

Anthony Gatto is definitely one of the best, if not THE best jugglers of all time. Unfortunately, it seems he has finished with his career as a juggler.
This article was really hard to read. There's a lot in there about how frustrating it is to be a juggler as a performer, especially in this age.
This video is his performance in cirque du soleil.

I saw him a couple years ago at cirque and I have to admit, I didn't even recognize him...he was actually smiling and his performance was awesome. It's too bad he's retiring (again)...I think cirque did a great job of polishing him into a performer rather than the greatest technical juggler in the world :3. I can't blame him though, there's no money in the biz...when Olga and vova came here I think she did the smart thing and pursued a degree. It's just too difficult to make a good living off of performance.

There's little money in it and you're catering to an audience who barely understand juggling. I loved how he talked about how 4 balls looks like 5 balls and vise versa. My audience can never follow how I juggle because my style is very asymmetrical and improvised, so I know how frustrating it is to master an art that most people don't easily get. It definitely takes a juggler to actually assess the skill of another juggler because they actually know the difficulty. When I heard Anthony didn't need to practice 5 balls, that he just had it, I was astounded! That's a prodigy. Other people won't know the extent of how amazing that is.
