What's ironic is how his hate-mongering did more for the LGBT community than against it. Most people would look at the Westboro Baptist Church and say "Those f*ckers are psychopaths."

Oddly, yeah - his actions may have helped to garner sympathy (not the word I want but I'm tired) towards those he protested. But I think the world was waking up to acceptance without him trashing funerals. And I wouldn't really support protests at his funeral. I would rather no one show up at all.

We can use them as an example for the future, but we must do so with the integrity and maturity of one who is above such petty hate-mongering. Otherwise, all we are doing is becoming just like him.

I understand your point - and would basically be in agreement if he hadn't taken the deliberate actions to create sorrow for others. It's that path of his - the blatant evil - that I am glad is gone. I won't continue the hate; I could never have such feeling towards any group - but I still feel relief that he can no longer perform his evil, hate-filled protests. I hope the level of hate within his "church" dies with him. But that would take enlightenment, and I doubt they're willing to go that far.

Relief at his death is not a negative aspect. That is merely the weight of concern lifting off of your shoulders for those that he may have accosted with his negative and narrow-minded perspective.
I merely speak against those who would seek to harass the members of the church because they have done so to others. That has been proven by history time and time again to only result in escalating measures being taken by both sides.

I agree. Revenge tactics never help a cause. I'm surprised that there haven't been more direct confrontations from the families being abused. But the few court rulings that limited the distance the "church" could protest were - at least - minor victories.

well,.. even bad people can do some good. they do inspire the good people to do better. heaven or hell, it is all about how good you feel doing what you do no matter what people think. most would think my vore deserves me spot in hell and i dont rightly care

I will concede that his vile hatred and despicable actions may have moved the public consciousness into a more accepting role - simply by people not wanting to be associated with him. But he was - after all - a horrible person. He did horrible things that caused others to suffer. That's why I'm glad he's gone. That fact that you draw vorish scenarios for your enjoyment (and mine!) compares in no way to this. You do not go out of your way to cause pain to others. If they come across your art and are offended, tuff cookies for them. You're not shoving your views down their throat.
