Hmm I must say I'm a little 50/50 about you not taking any more commissions, but then again I'm so generally uncreative that honestly getting a pre made from you is probably way better in the long run anyways :)

That being said I do definitely like your idea of making the head and then doing the body after you have a winner. I've never seen or heard of that before and I think it's great! The only other way I've seen people auction full suits is by just making the body for a certain body type (say 5'6" 150lbs) and if you can fit it, cool, if not, too bad. I definitely think your method will allow far more people to bid on specific suits.

I agree with you on mostly everything I may say.

I watched lot of premade suit auction that was generally going from 5'6" - 6'2" // 150lbs-250lbs... and I'm a 5'2", 100lbs. Mostly nothing is good for me :(

I think it's a good idea auction to off a design then make the suit to the buyers size. I seen a few suits I like but being 5' 9" I cannot fit into a suit made for somebody 5' 2". Also the weight too.

Oh! sorry for another post but I just thought of this--- would you ever consider doing artistic liberty commissions/auctions? Like its an auction and the winner says "okay I want a shark/fox hybrid" (for example) and then you do the rest? It'd give you full creativity while still going off a couple keywords from the winner. Just thought I should share :D

From my understanding she wants to make the heads and then when the auction winner pays she will require their DTD for the bodysuit. ^^

Understand what I'm going to say is not meaning to offend, but this is a bad move in my opinion; You've got lots of people who want to commission you for one of your suits and you're pretty much saying "well your not important enough, so I'm going to do my own characters and you can bid on those" and letting them down. I mean look at some of the comments posted already. If it works for you then great.

Artist are not obligated to take commissions. Pre-mades may be the best move for her to continue putting out the best product.
I know I make pre-mades because I hate deadlines and I get anxiety. This anxiety causes me to not like what I'm working on and dread working on said suit. Thats just me though.

And your right artist's aren't obligated to take commissions, however they are doing this as a business. I'm an artist too don't get me wrong on that :) And maybe pre-mades might be the best move, just saying don't stick to just one idea, maybe do both if you have the time. I honestly didn't mean my original comment to sound as rude as it has come across, I apologize.

She's doing what makes her happy. In no way is she saying that people who want custom suits by her "aren't good enough," she's saying that wow, it's her business and she'll run it however she wants to. Making premades gives her a chance to be endlessly creative and work at her full potential as she can do whatever she wants, instead of generic toony dog over and over. It's how Wildlife does it and they're happy + get awesome business so I think she'll do just fine. No need to make her out to be a snobby elitist when she never once even implied that others weren't good enough for her work. It's very rude of you to assume that.

this reply is to both of your reply comments :3 you're both right it is their decision to change their thoughts on making suits and that was the whole reason why I said it in a professional way "Understand what I'm going to say is not meaning to offend" and while yes making premade suits would bring in the same amount, how many premade suits have you seen sold on furbuy or thedealersden, if you look at the website, the same suits are up there every week. And not everyone has a "generic toony dog" fursona, I was more so making the point of, if you're going to run this as you're way of earning income, don't stick to just premades, cause they don't always sell.

No. In fact, the one that was (it could still be up) just sold for OVER $3,000. Bella's work is on-par/better than Wild-Life, so I have no doubt at all that her work will sell just as well.

Ya I get  wild-life suits have been selling like hot cakes, ya their last one still has a bid on it for 4k, but you can't just "oh shit that suit just sold for 4k, I can do that too and earn that same amount" cause if you're thinking that you're setting yourself up for failure. I'm not doubting Autumn's suits aren't awesome, that's one of the reasons I'm so disappointed that she's closed her doors completely to commissions now, I like so many other commenters wanted a suit done by her, but now I can strike that off my list. Specially when you're in a fandom made of artists that know how they want their character to look, not a pre-made suit that looks the same as the rest, or as someone said before a "generic puppy" or a "generic" fox, etc. Secondly the suit makers that make up  wild-life are still taking commissions on the side under their seperate accounts and have been doing that for years and years. I've also seen a few fursuit makers try and go this same route to have reality crash into them like the 216 bus full of people, I hope it works out for Autumn, I don't want any artist to fail, that's the last thing I want.

I get that you're upset she isn't doing custom commissions anymore, but you're essentially belittling her work when you say she won't be successful. I think you should be supportive, not half-assed supportive like I feel you are.

You're right and I'll leave this last comment and leave it at that: Autumn I wish you the best of luck in working on pre-made suits :) and hope it works out for you and I hope you sell lots of them, your suits are as I've said 100% awesome.

Agreeing with Whisski. I say do whatever makes you happiest but at the same time I hope in the future even if its a few years; that you may decide to open up a slot or two every once in a blue moon for custom commissions. ~Since I was still wanting to commission that one suit from you I mentioned to you and havik at some point! >3>;;~ I do agree with another above comment about the idea of auctioning off the design first, I feel that would be best just because it may be easier for those of different sizes who normally may not be able to fit into a premade suit to bid knowing the suit would be made for their size. :X

I can't deny my disappointment at never being able to have a Pickle head in your style! But as someone who much prefers creating her own creatures to working with other people's designs (with the exception of a few really inspiring ones), reaching the point in your career where you can make a decent living entirely from pre-made suits is an enviable one, and I wish you the very best of luck with it. :)

I can see why you'd go that way, I really enjoy making premades and they always turn out really well because I work on them without worrying about reference art or another person's preferences. I bet they'll sell very well! :D

It saddens me that I won't be able to get a custom suit from you in the future, nor really own one at all XD (my head is abnormally large so it doesn't fit into any premade heads), but I can definitely understand how the stresses of being a heavily sought after suitmaker, combined with having to deal with cranky people and commissions, could be too difficult. But I definitely wish you the best!! I'll still continue watching your page and be excited to see new creations from you, they're always adorable and outstanding!

Sure making the head first and then the body is really good, it's a huge step up from other premade suits! But some people have larger or smaller heads too, y'know?
