$8(p/h) commissions
17 years ago
====RULES====
1) You must have made the lineart, or have the creator talk to me directly.
2) The commissioner MUST have an FA page.
3) No cub [sorry but that just makes me uncomfortable.]
That's about it I think, anything else is more a preference than a rule. Such as:
-Male greatly preferred,
-Gay preferred,
-If Female/straight/bi/lesbian content is involved then only clean is allowed (though I may make exceptions,)
-For fetish work that will be handled case by case.
=====PRICING====
I'm sorry about this but I can't be as cheap as other artists, I will be charging at a rate of $8 per hour [about a 1/2$ under the UK's minimum wage.]
Average price will be $16-$24.
What I'll do is look at the piece you want coloured and compare it to my other pieces to estimate how long it will take and then give you the price based on that.
I will require $8 of the payment upfront once I agree to do the piece. [I think that paying for the first hour will ensure there are no time wasters, plus it will make me want to get it done as soon as possible (I hate owing money ^_.^)]
When the piece is done it will be sent to you and then you will pay the rest [I won't "hold it to ransom" I'll do this on the honour system.]
If the piece takes less time to complete than expected then you will only pay for the time it took me [this will be rounded up unless it takes less than 15 mins over the hour,] if it takes longer then I will increase the charge at the half-price rate of $8 per extra hour.
I can only accept paypal [can't work out how to do the lindens>cash thing even though I can buy them with paypal.] Taking Paypal also has the benefit of making it easy for me to refund people's cash with ease (as I can just send it back to where I got it.)
====WHAT YOU GET====
-100% of the rights to the art:
~~It's up to you if I can upload it to FA/yiffstar
~~It's up to you if I can upload it to my personal website [still not been made,]
-You will receive two uncompressed copies of the picture in JPG [1 with watermarks and 1 without.]
-You will receive the complete paint shop pro [or photoshop, if I learn to use it as well] file that will contain all layers of the piece [allowing you to easily change things if you wish to.]
-You can use it in commercial ventures [art CD's, portfolios, anything] without paying any royalties (though gift's of cash are always welcome ^_^) <I will request however that if you do use it for such that you use the watermarked version.>
====Additional====
I'm still interested in the idea of teaming up with an artist [or more than one] for collaborative commissions.

_no one pays that much in the furry fandom_
I don't understand how people can charge $5 for a finished piece.... a single bus costs me more than that and yet I'd be expected to do 2-3 hours work for that?
I love art, I love colouring, I'm more than happy to work for free if I like someone or the piece, but I can't afford to spend the time doing it if I'm not gonna get anything out of it.
I mean, look at my latest piece. The only person who's commented on it is the original artist, I can't even get criticism on a piece where I've tried something new. It's frigging depressing.
Wake up, you're in the furry fandom. You're not working for companies or industries, you're working for people who still go to school or people who have bills to pay and don't have money to spend on artwork
"I mean, look at my latest piece. The only person who's commented on it is the original artist, I can't even get criticism on a piece where I've tried something new. It's frigging depressing."
That's because you don't have a big name for yourself, and there's almost a year separation between it and your last piece.
If you want criticism, you have to go to a site that's devoted to it.
I mean, say you managed to sell 100 copies at $5 each with a production cost of $3 [probably closer to $4.5?] That's $200 profit on 96 hours work [a VERY low estimate of 3 hours a page, probably closer to 10.] That's only slightly over $2 an hour [62.5c per hour if it was 10 per,] it's revolting [and why I donate to artists when I can afford to.]
You are right about the criticism though, 400+ watchers or not a years a year and many of those may be gone now. This site should garner criticle posts though, that's one of the main points of an art site. Community through journal and art commenting, with art appreciation through posting and commenting on art. Unfortunately people don't seem to bother with the criticism here and there are no other decent furry art sites. Be nice to get one specifically for criticism [though that would probably require it to be a clean art only site.]
It does mean exactly that. People aren't drawing furry art to become rich or replace their jobs. They are drawing it because it's a service. Some artist here can easily go to a real job and get 30-50+ the hour, easily. But Most don't know that/choose not to.

And you're right, this isn't an art site, it's a fan site if anything. Don't expect to get critique here. If you want critique, go to furry chan boards that have dedicated critique boards, you will get a bit more attention you need, there.
This should be an art site though, fchan is a fan site and this is supposed to be above that. I can understand why you'd think I'm being an attention whore [assuming that's what you're saying from choosing the word attention there] but that's not what I'm talking about. What I want is help so that I can develop, if someone likes it then I'd like to know why so I can try that again, if they don't like it I'd like to know why so I can avoid or fix that next time.
If no-one's gonna be critical of each others work I don't see why we even have a comments option other than as an ego booster.
You are doing a job, but no one is going to pay you actual job wages.

I'm not calling you an attention whore, but you need attention if you want criticism, you need to go out of your way and post on sites and say "Hey, What's wrong with this, tell me I suck, tell me what to fix". You can't depend on people to leave you criticism, you have to ask for it, and get it out of people.
I know yg! [they kicked us out,] SA [they turned on the adult group rather than pick a host that would let them keep doing what they were,] DA [seems to be really trollish and their ToS or whatever it is comes across as being really bad (seems like they demand the rights to do whatever they want with the art, even sell it, and I don't feel I have the right to give them those rights when I only colour the art,) and Fchan which is even more trolled. [Well, and Yiffstar but they are more for stories than art anyway.]
Of what I know this is actually the best and it has a LOT to be desired [too bad that unlike YG we don't have groups, would be nice to have a group specifically for criticism.]

You shouldn't care if you get trolled, you shouldn't care if you get stomped. You are there to get better, and you should take whatever comments you get and use them to get better.
You need to stop uploading here, if you want to get better, because you're not going to get the comments that you need from people.
I wont stop uploading here, its good to have somewhere to dump my backups ^_^, but I will stop expecting anything useful from here.
When I finish upgrading all my previous submissions I'll be sure to post them to those places.
Thanks.
