FC'09 painting panel set!
For anyone interested in learning more about digital art in general, or about my process specifically, my painting panel at FC'09 has been confirmed for Sunday night, 9pm-11pm in the San Carlos room. I figure the extra time that will allow will be great if I'm going to try to do something new start-to-finish, and hopefully it won't conflict with people's dinner schedules or other major art events that night that people won't want to miss.
Hopefully folks who are going to be at the con won't be leaving before then, and won't mind spending a mellow evening with me and whomever else decides to come!
If anyone has a topic they'd especially like to see covered, or a question they'd like to have addressed, leave a comment here, and I can use that as a part of my notes as I plan the event ^_^ Thanks, and I'll see you guys there!

MAYBE YOU SHOULD GET ONE OF YOUR ROOMMATES TO RECORD IT, KAMUI
Because, frankly, if somebody would rather spend two hours watching me than the demonstration, I probably don't want them to know what I look like, haha <3
technology'd
and I'm freaking drunk on 50% peppermint schapps. How does that even exits???
MERRY CHRISTAMASS!!
I can't imagine getting drunk just on peppermint schnapps. That's...that's kind of gross @_@
Was it like, "I was drinking spiked cocoa to mellow out and all of a sudden I'm laced!" or was just like grab the bottle, glug glug glug?
But then again, I'm totally an old man in my drinking. I'll drink wine, or I'll drink gin. Those fancy flavored drinks you young people enjoy are just beyond me ^_^
And Merry Christmas back!
I'm primarily a (good) beer man. And I'm actually happily shocked to hear you're a fan of gin! I thought I was alone in appreciating that beverage amongst our age group. It's a Christmas miracle!
Coming from a relatively conservative religious home, this is the first Christmas my 3 siblings are drink-worthy. So, to be festive we got some Rumple Minz with the intent to mix with hot cocoa, but soon started playing card games and instigated a winner-takes-a-shot mandate. I took second place
I like me a good beer all right, but it's a rare night I'd choose beer over wine. Some people insist it's because I just haven't met the right beer yet, but I've heard that argument elsewhere before ^_^ I like a nice oaty ale. Belgian whites are nice. If it's lager, it pretty much has to be Japanese for me. Something really hoppy and crisp and not bitter.
And yeah, I don't know many younger folks who pick gin over vodka for their liquor needs. I just don't really get the point of a drink that's shooting for "colorless, odorless, flavorless" as its ultimate goal. I like the juniper and the other flavors you get in gin. Then again, I love the way pine trees smell, and I'm a total rosemary addict, so that's not much of a surprise.
And it's nice to hear of a card game with drinking rules that penalize the winner and not the loser. That's very democratic of you.
Interesting point in highlighting the quest for a non-noticeable beverage as a flawed goal. Speaking of gin, I'll have to share/make for you one of my favorite tiki drinks utilizing that component.
Turns out I probably will be not only making it to FC, but I'll make it a point to attend your panel Sunday! Thank god you got that slot...
Wanna make plans to meet for a meal or drink sometime Sat or Sun?
And I'm always up for trying new drinks, although when I hear "tiki drinks," I tend to think of sweet, fruity stuff. Not necessarily a deal-breaker (I like me a Ramos fizz, and those are both sweet and fruity), but I generally drink gin over rum or vodka because I got burned out on super-fruity cocktails in college. As often as not, I'll just have it straight in a martini ^_^
Good to hear that you'll make the panel - hopefully you'll find it interesting! And while my dining plans kind of hinge around my roommates' schedules, I can at least guarantee that I'll have time (and need) for a drink. While it sounds great in the abstract, I'm sure sitting down in a room (hopefully) full of people all staring at me and waiting for me to paint something that doesn't suck in under 2 hours will be a little nerve-wracking in the execution ^_^
There's gotta be a bar at the hotel, right? You down for meeting there an hour before the panel? At 8pm
Oh, and as your actions are largely determined by your roommate, so mine are by this fellow: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/greytheskunk/ He's a long time friend who's over abundance of hospitality allows me to have a place to sleep and transportation, so we'll probably be a duo most/all of the time ;)
There's totally a bar there at the hotel, and I am provisionally totally down for a pre-panel drink there. I tend to hang around the bar most of the time anyway (haha, I sound like a total lush...), so chances are good that if I'm around, I'll be in that general area.
We can coordinate in a bit more detail as things get closer, hm? ^_^
Hehe, plus I'll probably be too busy dressing up like a dandy <3
I'll probably have music going, though, just because I don't know that I'll be able to stay awake/focused/not incredibly nervous sitting in a room with however many people watching my every move in total silence...
