When looking for the right pen tool...as in the drawing kind X3 hehe...make sure you find it a comfortable pen setting for you...and use it all times..feel free to experiment with the others..but when you want everything back to normal there should be a setting RESET PANELS or reset tools....that's if you press something by accident and you want to return it back to normal

Layers should be on the very top...should be "add layer" or "layer to background"(Which changes a layer to a background or a background to a layer...other way around"

This is all I can offer you.I use PS elements 8 and hope these things I've said should help you..for now..or at least try looking for these settings so you can have everything all set :3

Nice tips, thank you. I'm still working on finding a good sketching pen- I had one I loved in SAI, but I can't seem to match it. Do you know if the only blending option is smudge?

Umm I really don't know how those works..you'll just have to find which pen is one of those..I really never tested the others out..since I added for like a year XD..I do flat colors and flat shadeish :3
