Ok before I write this I'm just gonna say, this is my opinion, if your a wii, xbox or sony fanboy and want to spew your fanboy crap go do it somewhere else.
Right to the reason for this journal. I'm sick of fanboys, I do believe consoles (read that CONSOLES) to be better or inferior to other consoles however. So here is why:
The poorest console is undoubtedly the wii, its like the poor retarded cousin of the larger consoles. It has the weakest processing power, the poorest graphics and is built purely on gimmicks. Nowadays it seems to be trying to market itself as a fitness aide rather than a console.
Next up the list is the xbox (Yes xbox fanboys, I said it, its not the best console) Its been out longer than its bigger brother but the hardware is poor, the HD disk player is now redundant (And wasn't originally part of the console anyway, way to go rushing out your console to beat sony microsoft) and the power of the system is mid range. Is it good? yes, its a damn good console, is it unreliable? you better believe it.
And at the top of the chain is the Playstation 3, it has the most power of all three consoles, it can handle better graphics and bigger games, its infinitely more reliable than the xbox, it doubles as a blue ray player (which if anyone pays attention to the cost of blu ray players will suddenly realize just how cheap they are getting the console for.) is it the most expensive console? yes, for good reason.
Now games. Wii games are fun, yes no one is denying it. They have comparatively poorer graphics and simpler games because the console despite being "next gen" is basically a gamecube with some fancy controller gimmicks.
The xbox and the ps3 games now. The xbox has more games, many many more games. At least in the western world, the ps3 is slow to grab these opportunities, this is because the xbox is primarily a western console, the ps3 is an eastern console, in japan the opposite can be said of the consoles, the xbox having barely any games out and the ps3 having many many games.
Many say there is no real comparison between xbox games and ps3 games. This is true, oh you can argue this one or that one has shinier eyeballs or more glowy explosions. I don't really give a damn, because the harsh truth is the xbox is pushing its potential. Its doing its best, its getting close to the max of what the console can handle. The ps3 is barely warmed up. The xbox is HOLDING BACK the quality of games. Because game companies generally want to release on more than one platform, pc/ps3/xbox, they will create games that all three consoles can handle, and they will stick within certain limits. You can argue slider bars all day long but they make no difference to the amount of information you can fit on a blue ray, nor the ps3's ability to process all that information smoothly. The fact that the xbox 360 CANNOT handle the amount of information that a ps3 CAN handle means that games WILL NOT be made to the full potential of the ps3, will we ever see the full potential? I hope so, but by then the ps4 may well be out and the ps3 taking the place of the ps2's those who cant afford a "next gen" console still use.
I am NOT a sony fanboy, I simply look at hardware and compare. I am well aware the Xbox is highly popular and the ps3's lack of games is killing it for many players, I am well aware people really enjoy the wii. The closing statement I am going to make is this. If you enjoy your console, If you have fun, then don't listen to anyone who disses it. Because its doing its job, entertaining you. Don't fall into the fanboy trap.
