Let's Talk About: Fursona

I'm thinking of starting a new "Journal series." Weekly? No. I'd say it's gonna be all random. but least 3-4 days between each.
Tell me what you think about this idea. DO you like it, or is it just "Journal spam" for you guys(And girls)?
This time do I want to talk about Fursonas. What is an Fursona to you? How do you get one? How / When do you change the design for your Fursona? Does it all come natural to you? Do you design it by will? Or do you just change it randomly?
For me: An Fursona is something that I want to transform into. (Yes, really. That is secretly my deepest wish.) Not something you just.. 'Toss around.' ( See my other LTA journal HERE to see what I mean.)
Designwise is what comes naturally. I am a very big day dreamer, and when I day dream about when he uses magic, did I automaticly immagine it in pink. For me back then, That was too "Girly" (I don't give a flying(No pun intended) fuck about that now..), so I wanted it to be something lie Green, or Blue. But both blue body, and blue magic, did not match. Wanted something diffrent. Green or yellow was good. But Pink came to me antrually. It's that what I thought about when I were un-aware of color.
Blue body were also natural, as It was very heavily based (or Idolized if you might als say) from Saphira from the movieEragon. The underscales came also natural, but not the fact they they were over-lapping each other. The overlapping came from THIS. So that was 'Will' based.
And what does it take untill it's an Fursona? Let's take adoptables for an exmaple. I don't see the point in that. Is it something you just instantaniously 'Fall in love with?'

What is a fursona to you?
I think its a creative reflection of ones self either as an alias image, mascot, interests, something they wish to be in a fantasy idea, or to have fun interacting on a similar imaginative scale (no limits sort of thing).
How did I get one?
There are two reasons I didnt have a fursona in the first place:
1. to be honest, I was a bit uncomfortable with a fursona, due to peer pressure and the like. Joining this sight in the first place got me a lot of people giving me... 'bad' connotations. When for me to be honest, I just cant draw humans very well, and I really REALLY enjoy drawing creatures of any sort animals or fantasy. But because of the image my friends portrayed on people with fursonas, admittedly I didnt really want that association for a while, I just wanted to be an artist (though I didnt have one because I didnt want to be judged by it, I really secretly thought, all the awesome designs people had, were just so exciting and interesting! Fun if you will~ and I also never viewed people with them the way my friends did).
2. A major MAJOR reason is that... how do you choose!? Dear god, I love canids (dogs), I love dragons, I love corvids (birds such as crows, magpies, jays etc)... like I even REALLY REALLY love moths specifically sphingidae (hawkmoths).... so what on earth do you do!? I couldnt choose and I didnt want to choose something and regret it or not be happy with it later... it was so hard!
Eventually though being on this sight long enough, I found a lot of people would ask me for my sona, or want to do fanarts, art trades, or just know what my sona was like. It got to the point were people were so eager that I was getting people design me ideas! I was so humbled, and I have so many watchers who put in all this effort for me... to be honest I actually felt bad for not reciprocating this amazing support ^^;
I had started catching myself doodling designs anyway, trying to put aspects of myself onto paper in some sort of creature, and one night, lo and behold, it just... happened.
How did I get the design for my fursona?
I couldnt choose between my favourite animals/creatures. So I mashed together aspects I like about all of them :P Whilst still wanting to keep features of myself, and admittedly, highfantasy and badass >w>
I usually go for a black and red combo, but whilst I'll still integrate that later, likely in the feral form, I just... for some reason the light grey, just worked nicer, and I figured, for re-drawing, and what I would eventually like to do with fanarts and art trades, or fun fursona group pictures, it would not only be easier, but just... fit better, like, I didnt want something over the top and outrageous or over powered looking, or even mary sue. Like I like the idea of black wings, but... to me it would just be too much and not practical, so I will put them in a high fantasy feral form I can play with till my hearts content, the anthro version though I suppose I just wanted to be able to be more interactive :)

Did it come natural to you, did you design it by will?
Um strangely enough, the design came naturally... considering it came from a lazy doodle I was surprised, but when I saw it coming together, yeah, it was more or less a will to make it happen. I got excited about it, enjoyed making it and wanted to connect more with the FA community, and gah, I actually liked it too!
What does it take until its a fursona?
I spose until the person is happy with it really :)
Regarding adoptables, I spose some people just lack the imagination or motivation for their own designs, but still want to be a part of it all too with something decent. So when they see a character they would really like to represent themselves or use as a character, adopts provide a myriad of designs and opportunities for those people who might just need a kick start to their fursona.
