Art Prints

I hope that everyone had been having a wonderful holiday season! :3 I've been sitting down all morning plugging along on the watercolor that I'm doing as my Christmas cards this year (late, I know!), wondering how Kinkos will be at creating cards out of the artwork. Then I got to thinking, how do artists go about making prints of their artwork?
There are a few reasons: High quality prints would look much nicer in my portfolio than what I have now. I would be able to sell originals of my art and have a nice print to cling onto. And, for things like bookmarks or less personal pieces, I could sell limited counts of my artwork cheaply.
So, can anyone give me any pointers?

But a good scanner and a good inkjet printer can produce amazing results -- on good paper of course.
And they're pretty cheap nowadays. Ink and paper are the biggest costs.
