wolfwingxI've been noticing over the years that numerous artists and illustrators draw both bears and wolves with with one less toe. Why is that? Bears have FIVE toes on all four paws not four. Wolves have four toes with the exception of the dew claw making it five technically. Wolves do NOT have three toes. Don't know why I wrote this journal but I guess I can see what my fellow furs think of this

They apply it depending on how they create their fursona they might be a cartoon artist or they might be an anime artist but don't like five toes on animals whichis like mine cause my fursona only has three toes and some people like to apply a cartoon style mix with an anime or manga style that's basically all I got for you its not laziness or anything like that

Huh. Funny enough for me, I have like a type of rule when it comes to drawing certain anthros about how many toes they should have. For fingers, I give them all five fingers. For canines and felines in general, I give them four toes. I gotta fix that when drawing bears!

I always try to go for five toes, but sometimes I'll end up drawing four by mistake. By the time I notice there's one missing the picture is already coloured and if I go messing with it I'll probably make it worse :P

As a bear paw expert I am well aware that they have 5 toes. Its more of an artist preference to draw however many toes. I always looked at it this way: 3 toes toony, 4 toes semi-toony, 5 toes realism .
