Commissions are CLOSED

I have had to decline a few commissions now for various reasons and I thought maybe posting something of a guide would help.

Things that are required:
Reference that has 3 views front, side, and back as well as any important details. It must be in full color and current.

You must fill out the form in full as it applies to your commission. If you leave out information I will have to ask you to fill it in before I can give you a quote.

Reasons your commission might be declined:

If you are a minor, I do not accept commissions from minors at this time.

If you fail to provide a reference of any kind or use other people's art as a reference when you have no right to.

Traced or plagiarized references are an automatic no, I will also contact the original artist about it as I believe in protecting artists work.

Unintelligible emails, if your spelling and grammar is so poor that I can not understand you I will have to decline. A mistake here or there is negligible but when I get a paragraph without any spaces at all I am inclined to decline.

Attitude, few people will say this but I will, if you cop an attitude with me I'm going to just decline you, I want this to be a good experience for both of us so complaining about prices or your hospital bills or other responsibilities that are not my problem will most likely end up with a declined commission. I'm not your art slave I'm an artist who is making your character and I would hope that you would treat me with the same mutual respect I would treat you with.

I agree with the most part aside from the 'unintelligible emails'. Gotta disagree on that part >_<

If you can't write a a clear and understandable email then why should I want to do business with you? What I do is all about information being exchanged clearly so if the person is incapable of taking the time to write something understandable why should I take the risk of having some misunderstanding or something like that? I'm not expecting world class typing I just expect something as understandable as what you and I have written here.

Exactly, I mean I make plenty of mistakes, hell I made some in my counter argument just because I wasn't paying attention.

The thing is, I'm expected to behave like a professional at all times, to hold myself to a higher standard and provide a product while giving good customer service. I think that if I am to be held to such a standard, the least I can ask is that my customers take a moment to look over what they read.

Besides, it's their commission, their character, I would hope that they would be willing to take the time and give a clear description to be sure they get exactly what they want.

Please read my own post defending my reasons why. I kinda don't like the fact you are both blowing up at me over a simple difference of opinion :/ my mother can't type properly and struggles indefinitely with writing emails yet is the co-owner of her own business.

Wow okay don't get short with me :/ I have my reasons.

I have extremely dyslexic friends and even my mum is that way too. She can't write emails very well and sometimes people don't have others around to help them :/ this is the only point I was going at and would of rather you didn't blow up at me over it :/

No one is blowing up at you over an opinion, you stated an opinion and as the business owner I am expected to give my reasons for any policy. These other people are also just giving their opinions but they happen to differ from yours, that however does not constitute "blowing up" at you. It's nothing more than that. If you are entitled to give your opinion so is everyone else and as far as I can tell no one has even come close to attacking you. It might be time to step back and look at this objectively, you have done nothing wrong and neither has anyone who commented on the subject.

Just seemed you really were pretty short with me over it and that's exactly why I felt my opinion was attacked. But if you are saying you didn't then that's okay. I know you are a nice person because we have spoken before :)

I did not mean to be short, but with very little to go on I just assumed I needed to clarify. I do my best to suit my customers but I have had bad commissions that go wrong just because there was no open communication. It slowed my queue down terribly and I'm still trying to catch up. I make policies to protect my other customers as well because they deserve to get their suits in a reasonable time too. It's all about balance.

Oh definitely! I can really understand that. Well I apologise I took it the wrong way :) I fully understand that issues can happen. It's happened with me in the past regarding a commission, fault on the other side though :/

Exactly that, mistakes happen and people with disabilities can't help it some times, that is fine. The problem is I have gotten quotes like what you gave as an example and if a customer can't be bothered to be at least a little professional I'm not going to take the chance on having a bad exchange with them.

I got one once that had literally no spaces at all between words and was in all caps.

And you managed to read the whole thing? That would have for sure given me a headache.
