Bullterrier, anyone? :3
Hey furs!
I was just wondering: Does anybody of you have a bullterrier or mini bullterrier?
I am really interested in getting to know the breed more and talk to people who have bullterrier experience :3
I will hopefully be able to start a puppy-fund aswell to save up money for my future puppy! Money out of my commissions would go there aswell as some money earned from my mini-job.
What do you think?
Have a nice day :3

I mean, I totally love all dogs - no matter what breed or a cross between some breeds. But I was searching for a dog that is not too big/massive so I could bring it to friends, family and work easily.
Some people say that a pure miniature bullterrier could often be stubborn and/or self-willed. I don't know how to think about that, because this will be my first dog and maybe I should not pick a breed that is naturally stubborn
Though I don't want a dog that if full of energy 24/7 since I porbably need to take it to work or drop it at my parents for some time.
Also I want a bullterrier as well. They are simply adorable and mos people apeak wrll of them and their personality<3
I learned so much about the breeds by watching them over and over again :3
It's great to hear that you'd love to get a bullterrier, too!
I do suggest talking to some responsible breeders, visit the breed club sites: http://www.minibull.org/Welcome.html and http://www.btca.com/cms_btca/
The breed can also be....creatively destructive, even if it's just running into walls, or using their heads to open doors. You HAVE to have a sense of humor with them.
And be warned, this is a very expensive breed. If you're looking at a rescue, try the breed club's rescue as they are well versed in the breed and the different quirks, thus will be able to tell you more about an individual dog and what to expect than a typical rescue or shelter would. Also, you could also look for retired show dogs from breeders as another option. They're a great stepping stone for getting involved with a breed because they'll come with some level/kind of training like being crate trained, they'll be used to various routines (one day a breed can show at 10am, and the next 3pm for example, so they'll be going out at different times, used to doing stuff at different times, etc), and you'll still get the breeder to talk to and help you along with problems you may have. If you are going for a pup, responsible breeders are the way to go. Make sure the parents have all recommended health tests done for the breed, ask your breeder lots of questions including what they themselves breed for and look for (it will give you insight, and temperament is an important factor in any breeder's program), and be prepared in turn to get asked a lot of questions yourself.
I live in Germany, so I would probably have to look at the German breed club sites. I already found a few that provide addresses and websites of breeders.
I will try contacting them to gather more information :3
Maybe I can visit one of them and ask some questions and see their dogs "in action" and how they are living :)
Bullterriers are category 1 dogs, which means you need to pay way (!) more taxes, need special approval from the city you are living in, etc etc.
Miniature Bullterriers however are not listed there, so the only trouble you (as a mini bullterrier owner) would have here is people on the street that mistake your dog for a bullterrier and spit at you or insult you any other way :S
I've heard about several incidents like that.
There is some movement in the politics regarding a new law that focuses on all breeds and sets up rules and boundaries, not only for the "strong breeds".
I hope they will change something, since breeding any of the category 1 dogs is totally forbidden here. The only way to get a bullterrier or a pitbull for example would be through a rescue organisation.
