A Rant

I hate you, General Mills. You killed off Wendell, the baker mascot on the front of the box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
Cereal box mascots are iconic. The Trix rabbit. Lucky the Leprechaun. Toucan Sam, Snap Crackle & Pop, Tony the Tiger, Sonny... the list goes on. Wendell was among the hallowed few who stood the test of time - at least since the time of 1991, when GM axed Bob and Quello, the other two bakers from the old commercials.
Yeah. THOSE bakers.
But browsing the cereal aisle one day, I noticed even Wendell had gone away, replaced by the most irritating, pitiful excuses for cereal box mascots since, well... ever. Those "crazy squares".
Eww.
I realize that using Wendell in TV commercials might seem a bit "dated", but there are plenty of cereals that don't rely on their mascots to sell in TV commercials (Golden Crisp's Sugar Bear, for example). And those squares aren't "cute", they're irritating.
Besides, we've seen this concept before:
Wendell had personality and character. These squares are just a rip-off from Kellogg's Krave and don't have any sort of lasting appeal to me as a consumer. Unless you want to promote cannibalism among this generation's youth.

They managed to make the Crazy Squares look even more annoying.

Seriously though, there's no stopping the march of "How can we trick these kids into eating our BS?." Just be glad he's not around to see what happened to those that are still here...#TrixRabbit
