I too consider myself highly appreciative of the fine and fashionable art of pieing. Favorite flavor? Good ol' cream or custard, anything that would be slow to melt and quick to form a great gooey explosion upon impact. Method of delivery? A close-range smoosh is good, with some slight force (not really just a menial bringing the pie to the target's face, but not really so hard that it would cause pain to the target). From a farther range, a good tossing of a pie in the target's face is a welcome change of pace. It has the benefit of making the pie-provider anonymous, and the extra distance can help reach a bigger impact explosion when the pie finds its mark. The only downside is that targeting is made much more difficult; landing a direct hit on the face from more than few feet away can be tough.

The toughness of aiming just means you need to practice more! And needing to practice that sounds like an OK problem to have.

Just need a good partner to help with my practice. And enough pies, too.

The most over indulgent pie... pies made of pure buttercream icing. Super heavy, clingy, thick and textured... bliss.

I've never tried buttercream in a pie to throw, but I've eaten it. Never thought about using it for slapstick but... oof. Now I want to.

They are spendy to make, I made 5 of them for a friends birthday as his gift basically. If you can get ingredients in bulk though its better.

It's a really fun gag! Most thrown pies are shaving cream, since it's cheaper and you get a good weight to it. Though you can make one with regular whipped cream and it's still fun, and totally edible. I experimented a lot with it as a kid who loved slapstick so I'm biased, of course. Getting pied by someone else is really fun too, though only if it's a good friend and you're just goofing around. I'm a dork for it, but good sentiment in that sort of action is just really satisfying. :)

While I'm not good at the art of pie throwing I can appreciate it like all slapstick.

A really deep banana or coconut cream pie, planted right in the mug. There are many good pies, ways to be pied (pie sitting is underrated) and place to be pied.
But the classic is always the best.

Pie sitting really IS underrated. It's just hard to do as over-the-top as a lot of other delivery methods. Unless you get banana peels or something involved (which I would really like to)

From a slapstick point, it's usually played off as an "accident" type thing, like someone can't find space to set a pie down and sets it on a chair right before someone unknowingly sits down. Usually sparks off a pie fight.

In a less PG situation, it can be a humiliation kind of thing.

Well, either way it's really embarrassing. It lacks the visual punch a lot of folks want it to have when you're dealing in pure slapstick terms, but for fun junk and non-PG jokes, anything goes! And it's a heck of a prank to pull. beats a whoopie cushion any day.
